CELEBRATE THE BOND BETWEEN HUMANS AND ANIMALS
American Humane Association Calls for Entries for 2005 Pets & Pals Photo Contest™
DENVER, June 16, 2005 - “Animals are such agreeable friends – they ask no questions, they pass no criticisms."
- George Eliot
If you have a photo that celebrates the agreeable companionship of animals, you could win $1,000 in the American Humane Association’s 2005 Pets & Pals Photo Contest™, open for submissions now through July 29, 2005! Photos submitted before July 1, 2005, may be selected for the American Humane Association’s 2006 calendar.
“There aren’t words to describe all the things animals bring to our lives! They are friends and companions, working partners, valuable family members, playmates, lap warmers…” says Marie Belew Wheatley, president and CEO of the American Humane Association. “Each year we look forward to the Pets & Pals Photo Contest, as it’s a wonderful opportunity to raise awareness about all the important roles animals play in our lives and to celebrate the bond between people and their animal companions.”
This year’s Pets & Pals Photo Contest categories are:
1. Best Friends – Honor the undying friendship of pets with a picture of humans with animals or animals with other animals.
2. Kids & Pets – Capture that priceless connection between children and animals.
3. Family Fun – Pets contribute to our families in countless ways. Share some of the special moments between your pets and their human family members.
4. Down on the Farm – On a farm, animals are everywhere! And so are opportunities to capture them in their most interesting moments.
5. Shelter Life – Shelter staff, volunteers, vets, and animal control professionals are as devoted to the animals in their care as they are to their own pets. Here’s the chance to recognize that labor of love!
One Grand Prize Winner will be chosen from categories 1 through 4, and one Grand Prize Winner will be chosen in the Shelter Life category. Each will receive a $1,000 prize! The individual Grand Prize Winner (from categories 1 through 4) will also receive a portrait of their pet by Wagner Pet Portraits – a $275 dollar value! The winners of each remaining category will receive a prize package from the American Humane Association.
