bluebird,
Hurrah for you! For us we have had yoga PRESCRIBED by three different medical professionals. First for my dd for migraines, second for the other dd for dysmenorrhea (painful menses), and both supported by family physicians for each.
Each dd has had wonderful success. We have a 4 x 8 cleared area in the basement with rug, blankets, cushions, a candle, and music. Each day our dd, and soon my dh and I, find 15 to 30 minutes to go through some exercises designed specifically for our own personal needs (for dds each have a set and for me flexibility and for dh his back).
Yoga exercise needs little more than a small space, some education in proper technique by qualified instructors, and the willingness to improve one's health.
Even the breathing exercises are documented to reduce tension.
And doing yoga does not mean that you give up your own religion. Yoga is global.
For us, it has caused the first sign of positive health changes and it has been a wonderful blessing.
