I learned something new recently.... Or maybe I used to know it.. but forgot in the heat of the "emergency"
My DD lost a tooth..maybe "lost" isn't the right word.. She YANKED the not-quite-ready baby tooth out of her head by it's little baby roots, and stuck it under her pillow in the hopes of enticing the Tooth Fairy to cough over some dough!
Needless to say... It bled..a lot...
Sooo .. I had her biting on washcloths. That diddn't work. Then had her holding ice to her face. That didn't work. The I had her try biting on the ice... Nope... . on and on.. until after an HOUR of bloody drool and increasing nausea, (on both our parts) I still couldn't control the bleeding from this tooth!!
Soo I sheeplishly called the dentist, at 10PM, and explained the problem, wondering if I'd have to meet her at the Emergency room because my dd was greedy and couldn't think of a better way to raise a dollar... !?
SHe told me to have my DD bite on a Tea bag... ( De-caf was just fine she said... I was thankful for that, being it WAS 10 PM on a school night)...
Well, within 10 minutes, the bleeding was completely stopped!
It seems there is a chemical compound in the tannin..that acts as a coagulent. It has to be regular tea. No herbal or green tea.. regular black tea.
It works on cuts and scrapes of any kind.. (but you don't want the tea leaves getting into skin wounds)...
I was so thakful to find this out..because sometimes, you just can't get first aid into your mouth any other way! and you never know when a greedy litle kid is going to "pull" a fast one on you LOLOL!
