Amanda, Amanda, Amanda. Where do you find the time to do all this??????????????? I must be the laziest thing on this side of the earth. I never would have thought to paint rocks in my down time yesterday. LOL I didn't even do half the stuff I had planned to do. Do you EVER sleep????

OK, back to the subject, (ahem), I hope you will post a picture and let us see your room. It sounds wonderful!! Very lucky kids!::-)

What great ideas everyone has. i wish I had some little ones to do a fun room for right now!!! hahaha

as for the black board - chalk board is the proper name any more I guess. I have used the paint that you spray on and it worked great. It does take time and an even hand when doing it on the wall but mine turn out fine and if I could do it then I am sure others could too.

I love your idea for the old bean bag chairs. Using that plush fuzzy fabic that is so popular right now would be fun. I can't think of the right name for it. lol It comes in such great colors. I also like the idea of cutting out the bugs on the wallpaper and putting them around on the walls. When my daughter was little I did that with a short piece of border that were little old fashion girls and I pasted them around the room as a border using a pretty ribbom to tie it together. It turned out really neat. Just do something fun to cover the area that your border doesn't cover.

Remember no matter what you do your boys are going to love it because you took time to do it for them yourself.

What lucky little ones they are. :

chuckle Update!

I just wanted to let you all know how it was going. We got all the trim cut and stained and nailed up and everything is done now, we are just waiting for the border to come in. As soon as it does I will take it over to the fabric store and get some material to match it for the curtains and bean bag chair, and then I'll take a picture so you can all see how it turned out. I love that painted rock bug idea! My in-laws are all visiting for a week starting tomorrow, so I think I will have a "rock painting party" and have everyone paint a silly bug for the windowsill in the playroom! That will be really cute. Can't wait to post the picture. Thank you all so much for the great ideas!

Lena

Lightbulb A few more thoughts . . .

You mentioned framing the "Miss Spider" pictures from the book. What a fabulous idea! I've seen this done, and thought I'd pass it along --
You can paint a square on the wall a bit bigger than the picture, and just put the picture in a simple frame. That way you add interest to the picture, it draws your eye, and "frames" it nicely. I'd choose a bright color that's already in the picture, and then paint your square that color.

Your bug theme is wonderful, I can think of thousands of cute things you could do with that -- I'm sure you can too. I applaud you for going with your original ideas and thoughts -- good for you!

Best wishes,
Jen in CA

what a great idea Lena. Such a simple thing to that would have huge impact. I wonder if I could do that with some large pictures that I want to frame but they want so much to do that with a mat and all. I think I might check that idea out.

My SIL had some wallpaper that she loved but thought would overpower her room as it was a large floral pattern, so she cut out a little grouping of flowers from it (several of them) and placed them on the bottom of the wall (under chair rail type thing) at equal distance, then took small molding strips or trim and made the frame right on the wall...I think she made ovals...it looks wonderful. Every time I see her house, I am so motivated to paint and decorate.....then I get back home. Well, you know the story. Anyway, I thought it was a really cute idea. I have invited her to check this place out. I hope she comes. I told her how cool you all are
