Appliance Colors & Decorating

Hi, I found an interesting article about how colorful appliances are the new trend in real estate and home decoration. What do you think? Here's the article if you're interested, - http://www.realestatejournal.com/hou...50124-tan.html

That was interesting!

I don't know if I'd want colored appliances only because you are really stuck if you want to change your color scheme later. And when one piece goes before the other you end up with a mismatched kitchen or laundry.

that's a very good point barbszy. Personally I like sticking to stainless steel in the kitchen...but with laundry I'm willing to take more of a risk...plus, the colors for the new HE4Ts are pretty classic...there's one color called champagne that is a nice beige color...which goes with almost anything...

I think colored appliances is a trend that comes and goes. Remember the avacado colored and gold colored appliances of the 60's? I think there were pink appliances as well. Some of todays colors are pretty awesome but unless you pick a neutral color, you will be stuck with a particular color scheme for awhile or at least until the appliance needs to be replaced. And what if only one appliance dies and the color has been discontinued?

Hm...I'd have to admit Sammi that that's a good point! I hadn't thought of that one. From the advertising and articles, it looks like the HE4Ts will be around for a while. I think that Kenmore would work to accomadate customers' needs...

You are right, colors do go in and out of fashion, but the new blue and beige colors don't seem to be as extreme if that's a concern. I was thinking about the orange color, which I also like, and I don't have that ALL over my apartment, so I don't think that one or two appliances in a brighter color would make a huge difference, if my decorating tastes changed...you could still put the bright color in a more neutral room...

I'm just brainstorming since I would consider getting a set of HE4Ts...what do you think?

I think the HE4TS are great and look extremely nice. If I could afford them, I would definitely invest in them. I really like the blue or the orange color. I really like that front loading machines are coming into style. And if you look at the colors that are now available, they are a definitely improvement over the avacado or gold colors or the 60's and 70's but who knows what people will be saying about these new colors 30 years from now!

That's true. They are pretty cool. Some of the sales that Sears offers from time to time might help with the price...I don't see myself getting sick of a light blue color...it seems to work with my decorating taste...thanks for all your feedback
