To get a free report since dh is unemployed we have to send proof of that but they dont say what type of proof to send. Do you know?

I would try to contact the company, if possible, and ask them. I have no idea what you would send them, it's not like you'd have some kind of voucher for not being employed. You should also know that when you check your credit rating, it could negatively effect your credit. I found that out when I was looking around to buy a new car and the dealerships were checking my credit to see what type of monthly payments they could accept. I wouldn't do it unless you tried to get a loan or something and you didn't get it because of something on your report that you don't know about.

Experian took over TRW. You may want to check out the website to see if they will send out a free credit report. Or at least get their phone number to call.

I know that TRW used to send you a free report once every two years. Hopefully the new place would too.

Here are other places you can check out:

~ Transunion - depending on where you live, the first one is free.
~ equifax

I hope this helps.

If your credit report shows that a bunch of places have been checking your credit, it could be a negative. BUT EVERYONE SHOULD KNOW WHAT IS ON YOUR REPORT!! It is a good idea to check every few years. That credit card that I applied to, but never activated was on there as potiential debt, which can also hurt my credit rating.

Yes, I do think everyone should know what's on their report, I just think a lot of people don't know that if you check it too often it can be hurting you, along with other things that people may not realize can affect their credit. My parents got divorced about 7 years ago. When they did, my Dad decided to cut up any and all credit cards that had both of their names on (it wasn't a pretty divorce). My Mom came to find out 5 years later that she wasn't able to get more than one credit card because they said she had too many. She didn't figure out why they said that until she checked her report. My Dad had never actually cancelled the cards.
