2008 Financial goals

My goal to work on getting closer out of dedt then stay out. My 1 st step to build a $1000.oo emergency fund. 2. to pay off our 2 cc and 1 bank loan. 3. 1 year living saving. 4. wills and bural plans made pay for.
What are you goals? How do you plan to reach them?

You sound as though you use the Dave Ramsey Total Money Makeover system?

Our financial goal for this year is to pay off the credit card and then seriously pay down our CRV. After that, we'll be debt free! (except for our house) We should have both things paid off by early 2009. I can't wait!

Right now, I have a job working from home and my husband has a second job so we can seriously attack this debt. Once the cc is paid off, I'll probably quit my job since I also homeschool. It's a challenge at times homeschooling and working. The older my kids get, the more challenging it becomes.

Once we have debt out of the way, we'll work on three to six months of living expenses in a money market fund.

I was thinking that sounded like Dave Ramsey also. We have been thru his Financial Peace University a year ago in Sept. We are debt free & have the 6 months emergency. The thing is we put aside several things that weren't immediate needs in order to get that savings done. Now it seems just as much of a mountain to save for retirement plus save for braces, a replacement car, home repairs, etc. I have to remind myself how far we have come & not get discouraged. What job do you do at home? I work only 2 days a week during school hours, but would like to earn more than I do w/o having to think about things like after school care or working during the summer. So I guess to answer the original question, my goals are to save for braces for ds, a replacement car & other type things.

Congratulations on being debt free. That's where I want to be about 12 months from now!

As far as working from home, I do corporate transcription through a company in Maryland (I live in Missouri). I've done it now for about 6 years and usually earn between $4,000 and $5,000 a year. Not bad for working in your jammies!
