I thought maybe some of you would like to share some of the songs you use in your daycare. I always am looking for songs to go with my theme days. Any ideas I would love to hear them!
thanks debbie

Safety
(sung to twinkle twinkle)
red means stop and
green means go
yellow watch out ,you
better go slow!
Keep your eye right
on the light
it will tell you
what is right!
red means stop and
green means go
yellow watch out you
better go slow!
Buckle Up
(sung to a hunting we will go)
The wheels go round and round
we drive the car in town
we buckle up
in case we stop
so we'll be safe and sound
When I cross the street
(sung to have you ever seen a lassie)
When I cross the street,the street,the street
when I cross the street, I make sure that i am safe
I look this way and that way and that way and this way
when i cross the street, I make sure that I am safe!
Happy singing
Debbie

One of our centers uses the following song at the beginning of circle time; it can be used to help with learning names at the beginning of school yr or when new students come into the classroom - or - to encourage those students who are slower to come to the "carpet" for center time...because everyone likes to hear their name in song.
Begin with clapping hands in rhythmn and sing as chant...
I see (child's name) sitting in the circle,
I see (next child's name) sitting there too.
(repeat these two lines, going around the circle until everyone's name has been sung - including the teachers)
I see EVERYBODY sitting in the circle
(last line is spoken)

BUZZING AROUND THE ROOM
(when johhny comes marching home)
A bee is buzzing around the room,

FIVE BUSY HONEY BEES
Five busy honey bees were resting in the sun
The first one said, “let us have some fun”
The second one said, “where shall it be?”
The third one said, “in the honey tree”
The fourth one said, “let’s make some honey sweet”
The fifth one said, “with pollen on our feet”
The five little busy bees sang their buzzing tune
As they worked in the beehive all that afternoon
Bzzzzzzz! Bzzzzzz! Bzzzzzz! Bzzzzzz! Bzzzzzz!
FLIES AND BEES
(sing a song of sixpence)
Flies and bees are insects
Buzzing all around
Coming to our picnic
And landing on the ground

And we are on our way
We know that the flies and bees
Will come another day!

Do you know of the Wiggles??
Some of their songs are great for theme days.
We have been celebrating our Teddy bears this week and used the following songs:
Rock a bye your bear (Wiggles)
Here comes a bear, stomping, stomping (Wiggles)
Teddy Bears Picnic (trad)
Teddy Bear, Teddy Bear (earlier post)
We're going on a bear hunt (Chant)
Goldilocks Rap (chant)
5 (or10!) Teddy bears jumping on the bed. (Use sheet or parachute for them to be thrown around on)
* * * * * * * *
For a farm theme we sing:
Dingle Dangle Scarecrow
Old MacDonald had a farm
Then we introduce individual animals:
5 Little ducks went out one day
6 Little ducks that I once knew
Frogs:
Mr Frog jumped out of the pond one day
Der Glumph said the little green frog one day
We always finish with Open Shut them, so the kids know when our time is over.
If you need words for any of these songs, let me know.
Meg
