I thought maybe some of you would like to share some of the songs you use in your daycare. I always am looking for songs to go with my theme days. Any ideas I would love to hear them!

One of our centers uses the following song at the beginning of circle time; it can be used to help with learning names at the beginning of school yr or when new students come into the classroom - or - to encourage those students who are slower to come to the "carpet" for center time...because everyone likes to hear their name in song.

Begin with clapping hands in rhythmn and sing as chant...

I see (child's name) sitting in the circle,
I see (next child's name) sitting there too.

(repeat these two lines, going around the circle until everyone's name has been sung - including the teachers)

I see EVERYBODY sitting in the circle
(last line is spoken)

Do you know of the Wiggles??
Some of their songs are great for theme days.
We have been celebrating our Teddy bears this week and used the following songs:

Rock a bye your bear (Wiggles)
Here comes a bear, stomping, stomping (Wiggles)

Teddy Bears Picnic (trad)

Teddy Bear, Teddy Bear (earlier post)

We're going on a bear hunt (Chant)

Goldilocks Rap (chant)

5 (or10!) Teddy bears jumping on the bed. (Use sheet or parachute for them to be thrown around on)

For a farm theme we sing:

Then we introduce individual animals:

6 Little ducks that I once knew


Frogs:

We always finish with Open Shut them, so the kids know when our time is over.
