What projects are you working on?

Hi Everyone,

I would love to hear about your quilting projects! I am in the planning process right now. I need to decide which quilt to make next! I have so many ideas and not enough hours in the day to work on my quilting.

I can't decide between a Courthouse Steps with 1930's reproductions or a Spiderweb using scraps of every color. I have all the fabric for both, so I just have to decide.

Jenna

Projects now on--

I am now working on a quilt for our Bible Camp quilt auction. We, all the members are making blocks so it will be a scrap quilt for sure!!!! It is the mini bow tie pattern and we got it off the intnet. Very easy one to do and makes a 12 inch block. If you are interested I can give you the website to check on. there are a lot of free blocks to choose from.

You mentioned a spiderweb pattern. I have not heard of that one but have the courthouse steps. What is the spider web like?/ Sounds interesting. If you want that website just let me know. Marian in ND

marian.... Would like the name of the website for quilting.

We have a quilting club in my development. Some of the girls won a ribbon at the county fair last week. They had a show here to display their talents. One of the girls won 2nd place after only three years of quilting. She likes to make wall displays also.

Marian,
Your project sounds very pretty. I love scrappy quilts!

I got the pattern for the Spiderweb quilt on:

www.quilterscache.com

It is a fantastic site for free patterns! I think it was under Easy Spiderweb or Spiderweb Easy. Anyway, it is a foundation piecing pattern and very easy to do. This type of quilt looks complicated and quite interesting when finished, but is so simple. I would like to check out the website you mentioned too.

Sueanne, What a beautiful quilt! Thanks for sharing!

Marian, I went back to the quilterscache and the pattern is under the S's. It is like this" (Easy) Spiderweb". Just so you don't get too frustrated finding it! There are so MANY patterns, that searching for one can be a time consuming thing!

Happy Quilting!

Quilt

Jenna, although I'm new to quilting I took a look at the easy spiderweb quilt on the quilterscache website. I would choose that one. Today I watched a PBS special with Fons and Porter, they were showing how to take care of antique quilts in one of their segments, in it they said it is the more unusual quilts people tend to admire from the past. I don't think people in the future will be any different. The spiderweb is a visually pleasing quilt and will be admired long after we are gone. Which ever you choose, just enjoy what you do. Vicki ;-)

I'm starting on a small wall hanging for my mother for this coming Christmas. She is moving to Germany to live with my brother so I thought this would be a nice "remember me" gift for her since we will probably never be able to visit again except by phone or email.
It is 5 blocks wide (each block4"x4") and 5 blocks long (4"x4"); with a center block of (10"x 10") with two hanging loops at the top. The overall finished size will be 16"x 16". The center block will be cross stitched with a home sweet home flower pattern and whatever else I thnk looks good in that block. The four corner blocks will be cross stitch also and one is going to be a fancy coffee and saucer, another a Aster (her birth month flower), another an American flag, and the last corner block will be to and from with the date.
I had made a similair wall hanging although much bigger back in 1990 for my mother in law. The center block on it was her and her husband and all their children's names. Then I gave each child a block with who they married and their children's names. I included cross stitch, applique, and quilting in it. The corner blocks on hers where pinwheels and then every other block with the in between blocks being the cross stitched blocks.
I love making up my own designs. It does take awhile just charting it out, but it's fun to have something finihsed no one else has.
I'll be subscribing to this forum as I really love quilts!

quilt project

Thanks Jenna for the info on the spiderweb. I think that is the same website where we got the mini bowtie. I have been there and it is wonderful isn't it?? I just went in there a few days ago to find a 10 inch block as I am going to make one for a Quilt Block Challenge that is sponsored to Help fight breast cancer through quilting. They want a 10 inch block and has to be there by April 30 of this year so I have to get in gear. I chose the Fool's Square as it is 10 inch and will work well with two or three frbrics in pink and white which are the colors they want. So that will be my next project.

The bowtie quilt we are making will be a typical scrappy quilt as we are all making our blocks from what we have. Although we are using a white on white or cream on cream fabric along with the prints so it will be alike there. We did the double pin wheel last year. It sold for $450 at the quilt auction. Highest priced one there. All proceeds go to maintain our Bible Camp. And we have the fun of doing a quilt.LOL Marian in ND

Website

Sueanne, Just read your message and we got the block from the
quilters cache website that Jenna mentioned in her thread. It is great and can keep you busy for a long time. And as she mentioned go to the alphabetical listing and then you can check by names and it also gives sizes and if they are paper pieced too. I have done some of that and that is fun too. Hi,

Just wanted to add my UFO's (Unfinished projects to the conversation)

I'm working on an Operation Home fronts block challenge with another group I'm with. It's a tricolor red, white and blue paper pieced star pattern. I just love paper piecing. The points are matching and it looks pretty good.

My other project is a red work baby block pattern. I've worked on the red work for 2 years. 6" blocks then I'll boarder these in 3 fabrics in a lattice design and boarder with a flower pattern. (fingers crossed, soon)

Sueanne, that applicate flower design is just terrific. Beautiful.

Pepper
