Wood Crafts

Is anyone else into WoodCrafts??

My FIL gave us his old scroll saw and I have finally been using it and REALLY getting into these wood crafts!!!
I have always loved them but I never wanted to spend the money to buy one ready-made.

I made some small Xmas ornaments and I am now just finishing a larger Penguin that stands in the entryway. I just ordered 7 patterns off of Heidi Markish designs website and I am sooo addicted!!! LOL

My FIL also took me to the lumber yard and showed me their scrap bin so now I go there once a week or so and see if there is any plywood that they want to get rid of.

Since I am a beginner I would love to know the 'tricks of the trade' and get any ideas or suggestions or even talk to other beginners....

Is there any WoodCrafters out there?????

If you can track down ewriggs (aka Elizabeth), she could really help you. She and her DH are really into woodworking from what she has mentioned in past posts.

Usually, she can be found on either the WFD? thread or the Georgia State thread...or perhaps you could PM her.

I hope Elizabeth doesn't mind me posting this!!! ;-) ;-)

Wannabe

I am really interested in learning woodworking! Last Christmas I bought my dh a scroll saw, and I am the one who's chomping at the bit to learn how to use it! I don't know where to start! What did you start with?

I have not done this but I know a few people who have. I do crafts for craft shows and was talking in december about this to a buddy. No one at the last craft show I attended had wood crafts. But at the one before that, there was one table with them and they made big money!

I would love to do it! So enjoy and I hope you have fun.

Hey Karil

it was the same thing with me... FIL actually gave the scroll saw to dh but now I am using it!!

I started with a super easy snowman head pattern that I found on the internet. Then my fil gave me a bunch of patterns that he had from a pattern club so I just did some small ones.
But NOW I am hooked on Heidi markish stuff... her site is heidimarkishdesigns.com she has some super cute stuff! it is very easy to cut out and fairly easy to paint.

I will see if I can find some of those easy pattern websites for you.

Wood Working

Thanks, SherBear. Sorry it took me so long to respond! I tried to go to the site you mentioned, but it didn't work. Can you check it and make sure it's correct. I'd love to see an inspiring site!

Craft Sites

Thanks so much for the sites. They really do have darling ideas!!! I think I might be more interested in furniture, both indoor and outdoor, and things like that, though. Maybe that's not be the flow of this thread. I watch too many of those home decorating shows and and always finding myslef wanting to build things! I also like the Victorian gingerbreading. I'd like to put some of that on my house!

Does anyone know where I can find a pattern of a fish or the pattern for "Gone Fishin"?

Thanks.
