You could donate some of the disc's to your local brownie/scouts troop, your local kids hospital, a school art program,or maybe the Y would take them for some of their kids programs.

Just saw this on a discussion list and thought I would share it:
1. Old CDs can be traded in for new ones, sure, but they also make great other crafts! For christmas, you can just tie them together in strings and make tree ornaments.
2. Depending on how old your kids are, you can have them decorate the CDs with paint or marker (you have to find a kind that doesn't wipe off but is still nontoxic) - they can create patterns so that the colors show through in places. These can then be used as coasters!
3. Another fun idea is to use them for weaving. Take yarn (with a plastic needle if desired) thread it through the hold and tie a knot. Go in the hole and come out around the CD, each time making a knot. Different colors of yard can be used to create simple or complicated patterns.
4. To do a bit of science, use your CD as a prism - why does it reflect light that way? Where do all the colors come from? CDs are good for studying colors as well.
5. cut CDs into pieces (this can be tough). The pieces can be used to decorate styrofoam balls or other objects - these can be ornaments or decorative pieces that look like beautiful mirrorwork! Make a disco ball, or a mosaic!
6. Sew the pieces into clothing - as little squares, they will look like mirrorwork.

The first thing that you will need to do is pick up each individual CD and using Hole puncher, punch a hole somewhere near the top of each CD.
Once you have punched a hole in all of your CD’s, the number of CD’s you choose to use for your suncatcher is left entirely up to you, then you are ready to begin to glue them together.
Pick up one CD and apply glue to the covered surface. This is the surface that usually displays the artist's name, songs listed and usually has a design displayed on it. The other side of the CD should be a shiny silver side. This is the side that will face outwards to reflect the sun.
Once you have applied the glue to the “inner side,” the one with all of the writing and art designs, then you will need to pick up a second CD. Before placing the second CD on top of the first you will need to make sure that the side with all of the writing and art design goes face down on top of the other CD, so that the silver side is facing upwards towards you, and that the Hole you punched through it earlier is lined up with the hole in the other CD.
Once you have these positioned correctly, firmly press the two CD’s together. Make sure that the holes punched at the top are lined up a evenly as possible.
Once you have successfully completed the first set of CD’s, repeat the same above procedure with all of the remaining CD’s, until they are all completed and glued together.
Once they have all been glued together, let dry completely for about one hour. There are several different types of glue that may be used to glue CD’s together. However, I have found that the best ones to use are Super Glue and Wood Glue. Other glue will work, it will just take longer drying time, and there is the possibility of CD’s separating and coming apart after a period of time due to heat loosening glue from either the sun or an indoor heater.
Now that you have successfully glued your “suncatchers,” it is time to hang them up. You can use any type of string that you wish, but in order to achieve the most effects, I recommend using clear thread or fishing line.
The first thing that you will need to do is find a place you wish to hang them. If they are over a window, you will need to get an idea of how high or low you wish for each suncatcher to be. I recommend a staggering effect.
Now, you can use any type of hanging device you wish. You can use a coat hanger, hammer a few nail above the windowsills, etc.
Take your thread or fishing line, insert through hole in one group of CD’s, and tie a knot. Next, extend line upwards and attach to either nail, coat hanger or other hanging device. Hold device up in the air and keep adjusting until you achieve the length that you want. Once you have achieved that length, cut the thread or line and tie a knot around the hanger.
Repeat this same procedure with remaining CD’s until they are all strung up. If using a coat hanger, hang up somewhere where sunlight can refract off them. If using nails on windowsills, the sun will cast a beautiful rainbow of prisms all over your walls.
Optional: You may use a piece of felt, construction paper, or silver wrapping paper cut to the size of holes in the middle of the CD’s to cover up holes, so you cannot see through them.

Toilet Tissue or Paper Towel Roll

Cut a 1 - 2 inch tube from the toilet tissue or paper towel roll. Trace around the opening of the roll on paper. Cut out the circle you just traced and glue it on one end of the roll you cut. Paint the roll and end pink. Let dry. Lay the cd down on pink felt or paper and trace around it. Cut out the circle you just traced and glue it onto the cd. Glue your pink toilet tissue roll in the center of the covered side of the cd. This will be the pig's snout. Use the felt or paper, and yarn to cut out the animals facial features. You can cut out ears, nose holes, and eyes using felt or paper. Make a mouth using yarn. Glue these onto the felt covered side of the cd. If you covered your cd with paper, you can also paint on the facial features.
My dh gets many discs in magazines that he generally looks at once then throws away, I've made coasters out of some of the discs but there are many more great ideas here, thanks.
