I have an old computer desk that I put my sewing machine on. It sits a little lower than my current computer table. It's seems to be the right height for me. (I'm on the short size.)

I have been using our ping pong table for cutting fabric. My cutting mat is too big for most of the other desks or tables we have. And it's a great place for laying out blocks. (Don't have a design wall. Sounds like a nice thing to have tho!) I also lay out the top, batting and back for basting on it. It doesn't quite hold the whole quilt flat on top but for me I prefer it to the floor. My knees can't take that activity for long.

Unfortunately, it means my children don't get to play much ping pong but they seem to be surviving.

That's a great idea. I tried light to dark but the florals get me confused everytime!

The coffee cup thing under my name is called an Avatar. I think if you go to the edit your profile key you can find it there somewhere. Also I think if you read one of Amanda's posts she has at the bottom of her posts a line that reads Want an Avatar or something like that. They are fun aren't they?
Thanks Julie! I found it.

I have trouble keeping my fabric organized, too. I need a dresser or something for my craft room. My crafting/sewing table is an old formica topped one I got from my mom who got it from my grandma. It's great because if I need to write down numbers or directions or anything I can write right on the table and it wipes off later.

What a great table, Mrs. Mouse. Hey, are you the same Mrs. Mouse on the sew what's new group?

I had a wonderful dream last night. I opened this door in my hallway and there was a room I'd never seen before. Full of sunlight, a huge cutting table, a sticky thing on the wall to put quilt blocks, my machine was there but so was a serger and an embrodiery machine and I believe a long arm quilting machine. Think I opened the door to heaven? Me too. 'Cause when I woke up my machine is still on the dining room table!

Not going to happen in this life time. Hubby just bought a fifth wheel trailer with hopes of living in it some day. Hmm. Maybe that's why I'm dreaming of huge quilting/sewing rooms?

quilt frames

I'm just jumping in here but I was wondering if anyone has a pattern or instructions on making your own quilt frames. I am looking for the ones like my mom used. She used 2 X 4's I believe and they were on a wood stand (not a sawhorse type) and it filled the room. She used thumb tacks to hold the quilt on and then as she worked toward the middle she would fold the quilt up on one side until she could reach the middle part.

I don't want to go buy one and I know of some people that have them but I don't live near them anymore.

Hope someone can help me.
thanks

Kris
