Ideas for Thanksgiving crafts for K-3?

Has anyone come across new craft projects for Thanksgiving for kids in the K-3 age range?

My kids and I are going to do leaf rubbings and I think that I will get them laminated to use as placemats.

Any other ideas out there? Something easy and that doesn't cost a fortune to do?

Thanks, Debbie I've been to the first site before but not the second one. I'll be sure to check it out.

DebK, I use the DLTK site a lot, especially to get templates for crafts. Now I will have to try the other sites you listed.

Tami, last year in my daycare we did "turkey"shirts. I bought some very inexpensive Hanes t-shirts, some brown fabric paint and some orange fabric paint. The children dipped their hands in the brown paint and made their handprint in the middle of the front of the shirt. We then added an orange beak and orange feet.

I also found the craft of how to make Halloween spiders out of single cups of an egg carton. You need an egg carton, black paint, black pipe cleaners for the legs and googly eyes. Paint the egg cup black, push the pipe cleaners through for legs and glue the googly eyes on.

there are lots of great sites on the web for children's crafts too.

Happy face

When my ds and dd were little, we made Gumdrop Turkeys. For each turkey you need an apple, colored toothpicks and colored gumdrops. Decide which end of the apple will be the head and push in a toothpick with a red gumdrop on the end of the pick (do not push the toothpick in all of the way -- it is okay for the turkey to have a skinny neck!). For the tailfeathers of the turkey, fan out the toothpicks on the "backside" of the turkey apple. Put colored gumdrops on each toothpick end. For the feet (to balance your turkey on the table) break a couple of toothpicks in half and push 4 of these mini toothpicks on the underside of the turkey. This is a very easy craft, and looks very cute on the table (especially grouped together on an arranged group of leaves)! Have fun!!

Such cute ideas. Thanks!! I told my dd about the turkey shirts and she really wants to make one. I'm sure she either has a t-shirt that we can use or I will buy her one that is cheap.

Love the apple idea, too!

Sue, that would be a great Thanksgiving Day craft for my dc kids to do.

Ajrsmom, I bought the t-shirts at Michael's as they were having a sale 2 for $5 but Wal-Mart also has children's size Hanes t-shirts for about the same price. I also bought the brown and orange fabric paint at Michael's.
