Happy face Sprout Your Socks

WHAT YOU NEED.....1. A pair of old wool socks. 2. A large zip-lock bag. 3. About 1/4 cup water. 4. A place that gets sun for most of the day, inside or out.

Seeds can stay in a state of suspended animation until they land in a place with the right conditions. Let your kids seed a sock and see for themselves.

1. Find an interesting natural area to walk in....A field, park, backyard, or forest.....

2. Pull wool socks over your shoes. Hike around making sure you brush up against plants.

3. When you're done hiking take off the socks and slip them in a zip lock bag. Sprinkle water over the socks, they should be damp not wet. Then close the bag.

4. Put in the sun for a few days. After a while the hitchhikng seeds will sprout.

5. Plant the socks and see if you get a mini meadow......

We will be trying this out at the weekend if it decides to stop raining. We will pop down to the woods to do it

Thank you
