I collected 30 gallons of rain water today, and yes I'm wet. LOL I know have 60 gallons of rain water saved back for the garden and flowers. I did use 3 2 liter bottles, a juice bottle and a gallon vinegar bottle that had been emptied in the past week or so for the first time holding rain water.
I remember as a kid using the pill bottles and some beads in a craft project melting them in the oven.
Charlotte, as you should be proud of your girls! That is fantastic!!!
I haven't done anything out of the ordinary recycling wise. I re-use as much as I can. This past year I was a Girl Scout leader and I saved all of my scoops from my Tide powder, the girls filled them with soil, planted flower seeds and we tied a ribbon on the handle for their mom's for Mother's Day! I just can't see them being thrown away.

When I was a girl scout leader we use to collect the aluminum cans and take them to a center for money. This was our largest funraiser every year. We would make around $300 a year from doing this.
The boys when they were in boyscouts would help the community by collecting newspaper and cardboard curbside the 1st Saturday of every month. The boys made a few $ off of this and it helped the community. My dh said they did this when he was in scouts. He was in the same troop as the boys were.
Today I have saved 3 mop buckets of dishwater and rinse water. I normally don't use quite that much but had alot of dishes and extra things that I used to make soup beans... colander, large bowl for soaking the beans and the the bowl and lid to the food processor. I will use that water for flushing the toilet today. I need to get with my sister who is saving her gallon milk jugs for me so I can utitlize more of the rain water we're getting today.. can not leave any water standing for mosquitoes to nest in.

Making shopping bags (like the all the rage ones you buy in grocery stores now instead of using plastic or paper) out of my scratch feed, bird seed, and dog food bags. They are plastic with almost a non run type material. Makes a nice strong bag and all I had to buy was the large roll of webbing for the handles!

When I was young we used to go "skinny dipping"; now we just "chunky dunk"
We do the same thing shipping to others and lol we have gotten the same box back at a b'day or maybe the following Christmas. Judy got a Snugglie yesterday and it is a sturdy box so will be used to conceal a gift to wrap for some one I buy for. I save paper from one year to the next as well as boxes until they are no longer usable. I love reusing things where possible

Thought for the Day If you didn't start your day with a smile, its not too late to start practicing for tomorrow.~~~God Bless All
I saw a really cute snowman birdfeeder made out of 5 coffer cans and a pie pan. Four cans were painted white with buttons on three cans for the snowman body the top fourth can was painted white with a face. The pie pan was the rim of the hat painted black with the last can painted black with a triangle punch out at the bottom for the seed to come out for the hat and the plastic lid on top to open and refill.
I wish I could say this was a creative entry but it's just a simple one,...over the holidays I got lazy and stopped recycling the cardboard cereal boxes etc, but have resumed and am feeling a whole lot better about it
