Yesterday I found a bottle of vitamin E that had lost the top so I put them in some hot water and then poured it on my plants outside.

I have a neighbor/friend who delivers the weekly sales flyers, she gives me all the extra bags with the flyers and coupons. The coupons I cut up and send to our coupon club. The bags I have started saving to try the Plarn thing again. She also delivers a weekly newsletter and has alot of those left over too, the newsletter is printed on newspaper, I save those for doggy papers and also to clean with . The plastic bags which are pink with black lettering I have started knotting together while I sit on the porch in the evenings, eventually it'll be big enough to make a plastic rug with for outside or the basement. Outside this winter when the dogs aren't on the porch as one of my dogs likes to eat plastic so not a good thing to have around her in the house. They don't go in the basement so it'll be nice for down there to sit all my plastic water jugs on top of.

Oh and RobertaD

We buy 2 half gallons of Orange Juice every week and I rinse those out and use for Koolaid, Water for drinking in the frig. and the extra's are now being used to store rain water and also I send some to my milk lady for putting goat milk in that she sells (not for drinking, for soap making). It's mind boggling to think of how much of that goes into the landfills every day.

Oh also I think Thursday? I cleaned out a dozen of my candle jars that I use to test scents in wax and will reuse those instead of buying new ones.

I am also puzzling on what to do with the tiny cans that tomato paste comes in. I make dh tomato juice out of those and we use 10 a week. Because of the sharp edges, I'm puzzled as to what to do with them but am thinking some sort of wire clampers or something should smooth those edges and possibly use them to store leftover wax in when I'm making candles or even use them to make candles in. I hate throwing them away.

Anna and Roberta, I never thought to use the dog food bags for trash - duh! Thanks for that tip!

I have saved water bottles/pop bottles (brought home by DH or DDs, not purchased by me!) I use them as ice packs in my lunch box. At the beginning of every week, I take the clean bottles and fill halfway with iced tea and put them in the freezer. In the morning, when I pack my lunch, I take a bottle, fill it the rest of the way with iced tea from the fridge. By the time I eat lunch, the frozen part has thawed enough so that I can drink it. And, it kept my lunch cold.

Anna, you can get a can opener that will separate the lid from the can & not leave sharp edges. They are not expensive.

This is the third time this old grill has been used for plants. I used it as a planter a few years ago after the legs started to fall off of it, then when my aloe grew out of it my neighbor got it and now she gave it back to me.

I use the grill lid to cover the top of my chemenia when it rains and the legs and other metal parts went into the recycle bin years ago. So I have not only gotten my monies worth out of the grill but it makes a great planter.

Today I saved 3 shortening containers when I made my soap, will have 10 saved by Thursday.

I also saved 2 gallons of water when I rinsed my dishes using the plastic dishpan and poured the water into 1/2 gallon jugs which I used to water my flowers tonight. The wash water I put in mop buckets (I have 3 that I bought for $1 each at the dollar store). I used that water to flush the toilet a few times today. I just put them in the bath tub and poured half down the toilet at a time. It might not work for a big family but when I'm home alone all day it works just fine. So no new water was wasted and that's about 5 gallons total that I didn't have to pay for.
