I'm wondering if anyone can help me.... I have a cedar bird feeder and I'm trying to apply small stones to the outside to give a "cobblestone" look. I was told to use plaster of paris, which I did, but the stones are falling off. It seems to need a top coat of something, but I'm not sure what I should use. Any suggestions????

You could use something like stucco, or a fast drying cement.even just some caulking, but it has to be exterior...try talking to some folks at your local hardware store, they should know... sound so cute! GL!! Hugs, Jacquie

hi, you can try using the glue that is used to place ceramic tiles and when it is dry (overnight or so) grout the rocks. That will definitely give you the cobblestone look!
I just finished a table for my patio using an old electrical company spool - and bits of rock/china/buttons etc. on the top and painting the rest white. I glued the pieces on the top, let it dry and then used green grout. I looks great but it has been labor intensive! (Although cost only about $5 to do) It wouldn't take as much work to use actual ceramic tiles brokesn - then everything would be the same height.
I have seen and used clear silicone to hold glass marbles onto craft projects you may try this and then use tile grout between the stones hope this helps.
Hi, When I did my bird feeder I glued my little stones with a heavy glue my hubbie had, then I let it dry, the next morning it was ready to be grouted after the grout I put a sealer on it.
So far so good its still in great shape and the birds love it.
