Paper Embroidery

Anyone out there do embroidery on paper???? I tried it for the first time.....made the following card......still have lots to learn....found if you run a spoon along the back of your stitching it helps make the holes close up around the thread.......I added a 3-d image....some rhinestones and stickles on the girls dress to make it sparkle.....

thnaks for loking hope you will share your embroidery on paper too......

Hugs debbie

Deb,

Beautiful card! Is the embroidery by hand or machine?

Dawn it is hand embroidery......you start by pricking your paper with the pattern.....then stitch......if you don't have a pricking tool you can use a thumb tack I have used just a needle in past to do the ornare(pricking) but your thumb will pay the price...LOL Then just stitch as you would on material. Make sure you don't pull too tight as you will break the holes. If this happens take out the thread and put tape over the back of the holes and start again. When you are done run a spoons flat back or an embossing stylus bulb over the back of your stitching...this will help to close up the holes......

Thanks everyone for the comments.....

Very cool, Deb. I have seen something like this before, but not done so well. Good tip about rubbing a spoon over holes from the backside.

Here are two more cards made with embroidery and 3-d images.....The bunny one is far from perfect.......but not ready for the trash......the other is sort of an artsy image.....I used pearls and gems to add some bling on it

Joy thanks
