Craft Ideas for 5&6 years old?
Help!! I am in charge of my gs Ryans class for fall festival at school.I have the next 2 weeks to come up with some ideas. We have to make something that they can make to sell. The teachers have some baby wipes boxes saved,so we thought we would do memory boxes, I have some baby food jars,so we thought we would do something with them. I would appreciate any help. I know that I will get some great help here. Does any have any more cheap ideas?
This isn't really a craft, but it sells really well and is a lot of fun. Take some sealer jars, or something along those lines and have the kids fill them with theme items. One could be full of hair supplies,ie; barrettes, elastics, hairbands etc. Others could be of cars, candy, stickers, craft items, costume jewellry etc. Then what you do is number each card and make a "tag" with the same number on it. It would be wise to have male and female tags also. You sell the tags and they get the jar with that number. It is fun to have a few different size or values to the jars. Some could be $.50 and others $1.00 for instance. It is a lot of fun. You can even decorate the jars if you like.
Martha Stewarts online magazine at one time had the directions for making snow globes out of baby food jars. Just google Martha Stewart Crafts and it should come up.

A really cute idea is to get some holiday stickers and put a sticker on the outside of the baby food jars.
Then cover the outside of the jar with white glue that dries clear. Then roll in plain salt and let dry. Then you can hot glue a tealight candle in the middle of the inside.
Then wrap around the outside top with a cordinating ribbon. You could then decide how much to charge for them. Add up what you spent for the supplies and divide by how many you made and that should give you an idea of how much to charge.
Hope this helps some.
As a professional candlemaker, I have to say this isn't a good idea because baby food jars are not designed for the high heat of a tea light candle, it's a cute idea but there have been a lot of issues in the past with the dangers of tea lights melting the containers they come in.

Craft Ideas
Thanks for all of the ideas,I am thinking of letting them paint the baby food jars with the glow in the dark paint, then putting fall stickers on them or making the ghost lumanaries..I thought about getting the craft foam, cutting them to make headbands and bracelets. I have the fun fur, buttons, some old jewelry, fall and Christmas stickers ,sea shells. I am thinking about making a picture frame to put on top of the baby wipes boxes and letting them decorate the frames..We are trying to use what we have so we dont have to buy anything...Thanks again for the great ideas.
You could make picture frames out of a cardboard shape then glue puzzle pieces all around the frame. Then paint with whatever color of paint you want to use and then seal with a sealer. This is a good way to use those old puzzles that have lost pieces in them.
Hi VicRae, I really like the craft idea for baby food jars! If you can't use a tea light I wonder if you could use one of the small glow lights? This is really a cute idea for small kids. I was even thinking adding food color to the salt. Thinking red or green for Christmas. ......I'm still wondering about the tea lights inside the jar because as long as you remove the lid these jars can be microwaved. Wish I knew for sure if you could use a tea light.....Thanks for a cute idea...
