knitting pattern to crochet

The shrug I am working on has a knitted body, using 7 mm needles casting on 76 stiches and K2, P2 until work measures 52 cm, which is almost 20 inches. Using a K hook and a half crochet stich, how wide do I need to make this piece?

The shrug is knitting with 7mm needles casting on 76 stitches. K2, P2 rib.

Row 1 *K2,P2 repeat from * to end of the row.

Repeat row 1 until work measures 52 cm.

This is what I am doing: using a H hook, chain 120. Row 1 dc in each stitch. Repeat until work is 20 inches long.

Does this sound right?

Connie, it looks like you need a rib stitch in crochet. I can't help you there. But when you do find the way to rib in crochet then make two swatches and measure the gauge of each, one for knit and one for crochet. You will know how to make your adjustments from there.

No wait a minute. If you K2P2 on the first row and then turn the piece and P2K2 on the second (backside) row you will get a rib stitch. But you wrote that you K2P2 also on the second (backside row) so now you are talking something different. I will try it.

At any rate, do gauge swatches in both so you know what size crochet hook to use.

The main body is done! It looks nice too!! I am now on crocheting the trim lace. I flat out guessed and used a H hook. I needed a smaller stich and felt the H provided that.
