Here is a recipe for colored noodles

We use these noodles for lots of crafts. Kids love them !

Rubbing Alcohol
Food Coloring
Ziploc Baggie or Bowls

Instructions:
Note: Give yourself plenty of time for this craft! It can take hours for the noodles to reach the desired color, and it can take the noodles up to 24 hours to dry. And... please do not do this craft without an adults help!

first we want to color the noodles use baggie or bowl for each color you want to make place the desired number of noodles in the baggie or bowl pour enough rubbing alcohol so all the noddles are covered add a generous amount of food coloring to each container of noodles put these aside and let them sit until they are the desired color (this can take hours the longer they sit the brighter the colors the noodles have reached the desired color remove them from the baggie or bowl and lay them in a single layer paper towels to dry>

Once your noodles are dry, your are ready to be creative! Use the noodles to make jewelry (use a variety of noodles with a hole in them), collages, sculptures, or anything else you can dream up.

If you are really feeling creative, use acrylic paints and a paint brush to hand paint small designs on your noodles.

Thank you. I had seen it done before but did not know how it was done. Do you use gloves when you remove the noodles from the bag? I am planning on making necklaces in Sunday School with 3 and 4 yr olds. The noodles will already be done.

I use gloves or a napkin to see if the color will stain the golves or napkin if not then I use my hands. Let me know if there is anything else I can help you with. I did childcare for 17 years and have all kinds of ideas

Thanks for the colored noodles directions

Your timing is perfect. I was just trying to remember how to make colored noodles..and was looking on the site to see if I could find any information. I couldn't remember all of the specifics. We are planning on using them to decorate Christmas trees, necklaces and to make garlands. Should be fun.

Thanks again for the information...

Joni

Here is another recipe, including a picture.

These cute noodles are great for manipulatives. Use in counting, sorting, and sequencing games. They are very inexpensive to make.

Parental supervision is recommended.

This project is rated AVERAGE to do.

What You Need
  • Noodles in different shapes
  • Garbanzo beans (for eyes)
  • Shell noodles
  • Liquid food coloring
  • Rubbing alcohol
  • Paper towels
  • Glue
  • Ziploc sandwich bags (at least one for each color)
  • Black Tulip paint

How To Make It

  1. Pour some food coloring in a Ziploc bag. Add a tiny amount of rubbing alcohol (at the most a tablespoon).
Note: This may take some experimenting to get the right mixture. Try with a small amount of noodles first so they won't turn out gummy.
  2. Add some noodles. Zip the bag closed.
  3. Wiggle the noodles around in the bag until thoroughly coated.
  4. Place the noodles on the paper towels to dry.
  5. Repeat the above steps with additional bags and colors.
  6. Let all the noodles dry.
  7. Glue the Garbanzo beans on top (rounded closed side) of the shells. Let dry. (see photo)
  8. Add facial features to the noodles and Garbanzo beans with the Tulip paint.
  9. Let dry.
  10. Have fun coming up with all kinds of games to play with the children.
  11. See our tips area below for some ideas on ways to use these noodles.

Sometimes the simplest things are harder to find. I have a family reunion my husband and I have to prepare this spring and this is going to be a good project for the little one.
