Dammit Doll

I just wanted to share this. I will probably put this up in the craft section of the site, but for now I'll just attach the pic and the poem. A lady on my crafting discussion list had a family tragedy. Her husband took what would have normally been a simple fall and broke his knee. Unfortunately there were other complications due to too much medication and he aspirated and his lungs filled with fluid. He still isn't breathing on his own. I feel so badly for her. She is in Germany so she is only able to see him for one hour per day. I am hoping this little doll will remind her that we are all thinking about her and praying for her husband's recovery. I just wish I was closer and could help her out more

I think I will buy a papier mache box from the craft store, crackle paint it, then on the lid I will put this poem:

"DAMMIT DOLL"

When you want to climb the wall,
And stand right up and shout.
There's a little Dammit doll you
Cannot do without.

Just grasp it firmly by the legs,
And find a place to slam it.
And as you whack the stuffing out
Yell Dammit, Dammit, Dammit!

If Dammit's not a word you say
Then twist its little neck
And grumble out repeatedly
OH Heck, OH Heck, OH Heck!!

And once your done abusing it
Just sit it on the shelf.
But hug it first, as I'd hug you
If I were there myself.

Great idea, though.

I changed the doll, didn't care for the button eyes. Added some frayed jute and a couple of buttons for hair, and also painted a container to send this in.

That is so cute, I have a couple of ladies in my Al-Anon group that I may make this for.

Thanks

Dammit Doll?

I made this little Dammit Doll and its container, and I put it up on the site with instructions. The idea was not mine, but the design of this doll and the container are, but that's not why I am posting this.

The craft has received the largest number of "Tell a Friends" since I put it up, more than anything else on the site, and has a high rating of 8.18 with 11 votes. It's been VERY popular and has also had a high number of printer friendly requests.

However, where there are thousands who enjoy something, there are always a few who don't. I have received 2 emails saying that this craft is inappropriate for a family friendly site because of the word "dammit" and the context in which it is used in the poem. Frankly, I don't agree, I think these two people are being too uptight. BUT, that's why I am putting this to a poll.

You can take the poll and remain anonymous if you like, or you can post your comments here so that I know how everyone feels about it.

The craft is here

Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

Amanda, my cyber girlfriend from VA ( Ive met her once in person ) sent me one of these about a year ago. She sent it when I was going through some really tough times and I thought it was the cutest thing in the world !!
I agree that I think they are being uptight with being offended. If they dont like it, they can scroll on by and not look at it.

You cant please all of the people all of the time. ( but you do a pretty good job of it !!)
