This is not a kid's site, it's an adult site. If adults allow their children to browse this site on their own, then it's the responsibility of the PARENT to monitor their activity, not mine.

I think the doll was cute and it made me laugh when I saw it.. There have been moments that I could've used one. Like some of the others my mother would have been offended by the word "dammit" but at the same time I accepted for what it was and still saw the humor in it. I choose not to use words like "dammit" and the others as I think it shows a lack of education and vocabulary, but that is my choice and mine alone...not something I push on others. But I can still see myself sending that to some friends and even to others with a few words rephrased.

Keep the craft ideas coming.

Kris

Hi! I'm one of the people who complained. Yes, I think you have other ideas that are great, but I had considered this a site that I wouldn't care for my 10 year old to find crafts on. I know there are other words out there & people are going to use them. I know we have to face the real world. But I do feel that if you are going to use the word "family" in the name of your website it indicates that it is appropriate for any family member, no matter what age. And what if you go into a room to use your doll & think no one will notice. Kids have a tendency to walk in at any time. What do you think it will teach them to see mom throwing things & saying "dammit, dammit, dammit"? They don't know the difference! If your child got mad and threw something, I'm sure you would correct them, so do the same with yourself. Go outside & scream or just stop and take a few deep breaths, but don't throw & don't say things you don't want your children saying. It's teaching them the same thing. Do you want them to go to school or church & say, "My mom curses!" That's just my opinion & no, I'm not as tolerant as some of you probably are. I feel that's what is wrong with our society. People are too tolerant of what does go on. Just my opinion & I don't mean to make anyone mad or hurt anyones feelings, I just want "clean" sites for my family & myself to visit. Thanks for letting me voice my opinion! Kathy

I really don't think the purpose of the doll was for the words of the poem to be taken literally. Amanda made the doll to let her friend know she was thinking about her and to brighten her day. I doubt the woman is going to take a delicate hand-made doll and whack it against the wall. It's real purpose is to make her smile when she sees it and relieve her stress knowing she has a caring, concerned friend.

May I respectfully request that this subject be put to rest? It has been carefully stated that this is for mature adults and as such is designed to appeal to a wide scope of adults and craft areas. There are so many websites that are specifically targeted to the young person and crafts that are designed for level of skill and expertise that it should be no problem for a parent to gather an overwhelming array of sites that are designed just for the young crafter. I personally would never allow a young person under the age of 16 to peruse a site that I had not thoroughly checked for content. That is what is strongly suggested by the security advisors. That would totally eliminate the possibility of a child seeing content that is considered to be unacceptable by the parent or caretaker.
The Family Corner forums provide so much helpful information and support for those of us that use it, that it grieves me deeply to see such dissension here. So, once again. May we please allow this subject to quietly and gracefully disappear and return to the purpose of this forum (the sharing of craft ideas, patterns and helping each other)?

ROFL You got me!!!!! Actually, I was going to list my complaints:
My dh is 3000 miles away.
My kids keep taking the cushions off the couch.
My ds1 is "forgetful", except about detailed tv dialogue or song lyrics...but homework? Can't remember a thing.
My dog keeps getting gravel in the grass.

Ahhhhhhh! I feel better now. Thank you.

I am making this doll for my sisters and mother! I wish I had found it earlier, I would have done it before the cross stitch I just started!

I agree with you about moving on, btw, the name can always be changed. When I got one of these years ago after three major surgeries in a row, a little elderly lady from church gave me one but it was called a 'darnit' doll.
