I saw the coolest candle.. I guess that's what you would call it although it doesn't use wax at the craft show we did this weekend.
This guy took a piece of flat slate rock, drilled a hole in the center. For the bottom he used a large clay pot bottom, filled it with gravel rock, added a small glass bowl like a votive holer, filled it with scented lamp oil, threaded a large thick wick through the hole and lit it. It was the neatest thing I had seen in awhile. Very easy to make too.

I don't know... you would probably want to check with the manufacturer about if the tile would be heat resistant, you wouldn't want it to crack. Good idea though if it would work.

Hi Anna, I use slate alot in my crafts and as you said I'm always looking for new ideas. Can you post a picture of the candle you made? Did the guy place the votive holder inside the hole he drilled in slate?
