Craft Kit Subscriptions

What do you all think about craft kit subscriptions?
Our Daughter got one and she loved it she looked forward every month for that package to arrive. They really aren't that expensive per month either.

We looked into several companies that offered craft kits and some where really cheesy. But we did find one company that we contacted that had some very creative kits.

I dont really know much about craft kits.....what do they contain?

I've seen some kits that contain a book and a craft that has to do with the story and then stickers....etc.

Are they like these?

You can make your own crafts kits if you catch a good sale at Michaels or places like that. Fill a box with a foam craft, a coloring book, markers or colored pencils, a stencil, paper.......

You could even make a box with a theme book ( great cheap finds at yard sales ) and build a craft around the book.

HHHMMMM......that gives me a summer project idea!!

I usually subscribe to the ones thru Scholastic (thru the school), but only for the initial kit which costs between $2.95 & $5.95 depending on which theme it is. I have looked at some of the kits available to girls, ranging from $7.95 - $14.95 per month, but with the way I shop sales, I can usually find the items cheaper than what the kits sell for. Of course, it helps that I'm creative.

My twins love getting the kits, but with two of them, I cannot afford the monthly fees. So I buy what kits I can from the dollar stores; otherwise, I fix little kits for them. They are both getting sewing "kits" for their BD in Sept that are just like mine that I got when I was 10 (found them in thrift stores).

kits

My son is 5. I subscribe to Brighter Vision, at least I think that's the name. I love it because he's getting good books, posters, workbooks, and crafts. They are things that I never would have thought of. But, seeing as he's an only child, it's very easy to justify that cost. I don't mind it though. He's not in pre-school, so the workbooks make it easy for him to learn some basics in a very laid back manner. I've decided though that I need to put together a craft kit. Maybe in a tool box or something like that. Just go to craft stores and dollar stores and buy lots of varied items that he can use to make gifts and cards and all that. He also likes to scrapbook when I do. Instead of throwing away scraps and old stuff that I'm done with, I've been keeping them for him. Then I mount his 8 1/2 x 11 to a 12x12 and journal it. I hope some of this helps.
