Arrow Has anyone ever created a Recipe Book Scrapbook???

My mom passed away at the age of 57 this past November. I have her recipe boxes... which contain lots of great dishes she made while I was growing up. I was thinking of getting a 8*8 scrapbook and creating a scrapbook. Thinking that I'd copy them on a color copier so I still have the original and because most of the cards have writing that carries over to the back. A color copier will give me everything, right down to the grease stains, etc.
Has anyone ever tried this or seen it???? I'd like some pointers.

I am so sorry to hear that you lost your mother. (((HUGS)))

I've never done scarpbooking so I am of no help there!!!

However, there is a thread on Organizing Recipes and thought perhaps you could get some ideas from there that might help you in making your scrapbook.

Here's the link:

So sorry for your loss it has been 10 years since my sweet mom pasted away and I Still wish I could pick up the phone and call her. It is a loss that really never heals. lots of love comes your way from me.
Years ago when my husbands grandmother past
away, we put together a scrapbook of her recipes and recipes that had been shown to others from her. (like how to make her Peanut brittle.) it is still used today by her great great grand children, it is paper back and torn and ruffed up but the memories and the legacy is priceless.

There is a real sweet book called. Cookbook Memory album printed by Leisure Arts but the company I bought it from is a Gooseberry Patch, nice ideas cheap and even comes with stickers and paper to get you started. Hope you can find it.
love

Sorry, I wanted to tell you its impportant to use the file cards or paper youor mother wrote on. For you to see the handwritting is a treasure for not only you but your children. You can always photo copy your pages if someone wants a copy.
thanks

Sorry you lost your mom at such a young age. I lost my mom in October, she was 87. What a wonderful way to remember her. I think I'm going to do that too. I think I get her recipe file, if it is still in the house.
I used to work for a scrapbook internet store, where people would order supplies and I was the warehouse manager. The owner said once in a meeting, and I agree with him, that scrapbooking is just a fun way to journalize. Any way you do it, is the right way to do it. There are so many supplies, like tags, buttons, stickers to personalize it and using your mom's own handwritten recipes makes it so much more personal. I am going to make copies of all the recipes and make scrapbooks for my 4 sisters. Thank you for giving me a good idea.

Thanks for all replies ladies!

I am glad to hear you like my idea of a recipe scrapbook. I will take the original recipes to a copy store and have them color copied so all the grease stains are there and it looks original and in her handwritting. I will take my own acid free paper though for them to put the copies on.

Life is incredibly hard without my mom. I am only 31 and she was only 57. Lung cancer from smoking. Such a tradegy, all because of smoking. Is there a grief board on this website, I need one.

I'm not sure of an actual grieving board, but there are wonderful, wonderful people here that will support you and help you. I know they were very supportive of me and helped me through my loss, Abear is one of them.
Abear, you will know better than me.

31 My oldest daughter is 33 I cant imagine her being
without her mom. She lives in MN and I live in Idaho, 1200
miles apart but we talk each day and share pictures over the
internet ( what a marvelous invention) We crave to be able
to be together. We share recieps and ideas everyday.
You are to young to be without.;
Do you have sisters or aunts or just a friendly mom in your
neighborhood. YOu need to reach out and find yourself
someone, Heck I'll be your mom, I have been blessed with 4 daughters and my life would not be worth living if not for them and my wonderful husband.
I just celebrated my 50 th birthday and it was on Friday and we all went to dinner - with out my girl from MN, it was fine and all my grandkids were there it was a great time. Come Saturday I was out shopping with my sweetie, and got a call one girl needed to have her care jumped she couldnt get it started so we drove toher home to help her and as I walked in there was my sisters and a neice that had drove 220 miles my other family and some friends from my old church and some from my new church - all hac come to celebrate with me. I cried and laughed and with in the hour my husband walked in from the garage with two beautiful little girls in his arms, it was like a dream. My daughter and her husband and all four children had flown in for my b=day; I am still in shock, and it is 1:30 in the morning and I am wide awake because I dont want to go to bed and have it all be a dream.
So sweetie to have you come into my life at this time is a blessing because I feel you need a mom. please contact me andwe will do things over the internet. I am not a nut just a very blessed person who only wants to share her blessings.
Tell me about you if you wish, tell me about your mom so you can keep her in your heart and share her, that is what go me through when I lost my mom.
love u
