Question Gluing a Puzzle Together

Do you really need the special glue? I tried Elmers but don't think I used enough. Right now DH and DD have two puzzles ready and waiting to be glued together!

I'm not sure if this will work, but have you tried mixing white glue and water together and painting it over the puzzle? I would probably put several coats over it.

I use this mixture to decoupage paper pics to projects.

Let me know if you try it and how it works

I have used Elmer's Glue and water to paste puzzles together. You have to do 3-4 thin coats.

THEY MAKE PUZZLE GLUE, IT COMES IN A SMALL BOTTLE WITH A BRUSH, YOU BRUSH IT ALL OVER THE TOP OF THE PUZZLE IT HOLDS THE PIECES WELL, NOT VERY EXPENSIVE SOLD IN PLACES LIKE wALMART

What I have done to a couple of cute Boyds Bear puzzles I wanted to use for pictures is cut a piece of cardboard the size of the puzzle, and use a foam brush to brush on Elmers glue onto the piece of cardboard, then slide the cardboard(this can be a little tricky) under the puzzle and press down. I then put it into a frame with glass, and it looks like a picture.I have also used the puzzle glue that you paint on the puzzle but I prefer the look of the glass over the puzzle.

Puzzles can be so pretty. Any clear glue will work and if water soluble so much the better for thinning. puzzle glue is ussally mod podge which is cheaper but the white elmers type glue is even cheaper.
I like Sandies idea for mounting them. If they weren't huge you could take 2 pcs. cardboard cut to the size of the puzzle put one on top of the finished puzzle which has the other pc of cardboard under it(put puzzle together on one). Carefully hold the two cardboards tight as you turn the puzzle over ,now it it put together and turned upside down to add a backing of your choice. After dry you can either flip it back over and seal the front or mount in a frame. This is easier than sliding a glued surface under a completed puzzle I think.
