Yesterday was our first "live" craft show at a women's club. It was quite a experience being face to face with my customer's and seeing how they looked at my products and answering their questions about what was in my candles, where I got my fragrances, etc. it helped me alot in what I sell and how I label in the future.
We made about $150.00 after our rental fee so that wasn't too bad. 75% of the sales was my candles, my dh sold one of his clocks. The high end items although everyone looked, oohed and ahhed it was the cheaper items that actually sold. We passed out our business cards and flyers from our mall so hopefully although they didn't buy yesterday they may in the future.
Doing a craft show is alot of work, labeling, pricing, presentation, gathering materials such as table cloths and table skirts.
Some items I saw that sold really well is that new yarn, I think it's called Dazzle or something like that... it's a feathery looking stuff. Several ladies had knitted very thin strip scarfs ( I would guess 1 skein) and were selling them for 10.00-15.00 each. One lady really knew her stuff, she had a hand held mirror that she would hold up so the customer could see how it looked on her neck.. she sold alot.
Another thing that sold was these little teddy bears the girl had sewn angel wings on the backs of them, some with halo's... she was selling them for $5.00 each. She also had some that had like tulip skirts on.. cute.

Anna i am glad you did O.K. I love doing shows but haven't in years because of all the work involved ...it is hard work. I love the people and seeing every one elses stuff. Then I have to stiffle myself from spending my profits at the other tables.LOL

There was alot of that going on there too, lol. I was fortunate there really wasn't anything there that I wanted except this one lady who had made knitted dish cloths and sold out right away. She showed me a neat little trick too, which I will be sharing in another craft thread here.
Anyways next 2 post will be pictures of dh and me at our show.

I did a craft show in Oct. which was my first one not sure I'd want to do another there is alot of work involved. My sister and I did it together. She sells jewerly and I sell Christmas ornaments. She did pretty good where as my stuff didn't sell that great but their was a few other people selling things like mine. It was a learning expirence. I made these teddy bears to look like red hat bears. I thought that they would sell really good but they didn't which surprised me cause the red hat society is really big in this area but I guess you live and learn.....everyone in my family is getting Christmas ornaments for Christmas LOL

Thanks for the compliments dh and I have alot of fun with our crafting although he thinks I go overboard with my candles but yesterday he got to really see first hand people's reaction to my candles, how excited and how they loved the many scents.
Anyways to the far right side on my table... is it the red and gray things that are hanging on the stands? Those are Ohio Weather Forecaster dolls. I only sold one there yesterday but we sell alot of them at our booth at the mall. You can just never tell what kind of crowd you'll get so it's best to have a little bit of everything.

Sorry your show wasn't more profitable.. I'm sure your angels were very nice. I like the red hat idea too. As I just mentioned some shows you'll do well at others not. I have several girls in my company who do these shows and that is what they told me about my show. They said if you make your rent back you've done good. I talked with a lady from my Ohio Soapers group who I met at the state fair this year. She said last year she sold candles faster than she make change, this year nothing.
Well I'm off to post this link in the frugal living area so they can come visit instead of double posting.
