What crafts are you making now? Let's share ideas with each other and also to get everyone motivated to make crafts!!!
I am working on blue jean bags, wood "Welcome to our Home" plaque that every month displays a different wood item, November is the turkey, etc. very cute; crochet kitchen scrubbers and trying to get my craft rooms organized!!
Hi Craftybear2001
At the moment I am doing my presents for christmas and the unecpected birthdays my boys seem to get invited to.
For xmas I am crocheting some little santas with the wobbly eyes and a pompom for hat etc I put a safetypin on the back and I have a little badge/broach. Stencilled xmas prints on tea towels for hampers for pressies also hambags with pigs. I made bath pillows, to put with a face washer and towel with some lovely lace on them and put them in a pamper pack, then there is the kids pressies arrrrrrrrg. I do these through the year so I can go to the cupboard when a pressie is needed and not have to rush. Same with cards I always have a few pre made.
Just a few of mine you will have to tell me how the crocheted kitchen scrubber goes.
I found different crochet scrubber patterns on the net. I will need to find them so I can post them for you and others to enjoy. I love surfing the internet to find patterns.
Thanks again for posting to my thread. I sure appreciate it and will look forward to hearing from you and others so we can share ideas and web sites with each other. Okay who is next!!!!
This is my first Christmas in 4 years without chemo and I am having so much fun!! My 15 yo DD and I handpainted all of our Christmas cards this year. We finished that a few nights ago and they go in the mail after Thanksgiving. I'm also doing primitive stitching and making Christmas signs and sayings and sewing borders and adding ribbons to make them into wall hangings. Those are gifts. I made 2 small Christmas quilts to hang in my dining room (almost finished with the last one) and I fround the cutest doilies with cross stith fabric in the middle on sale at Michael's so I bought 15 of them and I'm stitching Christmas pictures in them to give as gifts. My best gift (going to my favorite aunt) is a cross stitch of an angel that turned out to be about 20 x 16 large and I had it professionally framed. It took me 3 years to finish it during my chemo treatments but I am so proud of it. It will be hard to part with but she was by my side through it all and it will mean just as much to her!
OK other things I'm making: I'm making floral arrangements. 2 for me on the fireplace mantle and 2 as gifts. I bought 4" pots for 33 cents and painted them silver. Filled them with pieces from an old wreath and little Christmas stick pins and they are so cute, cheap and easy (oh no, is that my motto for this Christmas? Hehehe)
Oh, I'm painting bottles and filling them with my special pepper sauce that I made form this year's crop. I have requests for that every year but I've never painted the bottles. Each year, previous recipients return my bottles wanting refills! That makes me feel good!
Last: I'm sewing new table linens form some pretty Christmas sheets I found on sale last year (the cheapest fabric!!) We repainted my dining room country red and cream (it was blue and white) and I managed to change all my colors except for my dishes which are blue, white and silver and have snowflakes on them. If anyone read this far: any ideas how to blend those plates, serving dishes, etc. with my red room and red and gold country Christmas decor now? hmmmmmm
Hi Christyd8
Maybe a table decoration with a mix of all or some of your new and old colours together would work so that you can keep your dinner set even with the new colours, or maybe just a little blue here and there. I always make my tablecloths out of sheets as I have a large oval table and a single sheet fits on so nicely, I get them at the end of summer sales cheap. I put on stencils or hem them in a contrast colour. I made a nice one for xmas 3 yrs ago but as we usually eat outside with a bbq (summer here) the cloth stays indoors all by itself!
Are the pots you are doing terracotta/pottery ones? I loop a thick cord or rope through the hole in the bottom tie some some beads on the ends decorate with ribbon and hang upsidedown for bells. Mmmm, does that make any sense?
Glad you're feeling great .
The bells sound great! I was looking at the pots when I had them upside down painting them and I knew there was something I could do with them but it never quite came to me! Now I wish I had bought more of them.... hanging from under the mantle.....hmmmmmm I wonder how long the sale is on? hehe
Thanks for the ideas. I have some snowflakes and crystals to hang from my light fixture and I was hoping to find some small plates or something with snowmen in blue and white that also has some red and green in it and that would combine them all. No luck though. I'll turn my attention to my centerpiece and see what I can come up with. I have last years and the one for this year so maybe combined they will do the trick! Thanks!
Right now I am making pipe cleaner reindeer and candy cane pins. Nothing extravagent, just a small little project I am doing to give as gifts for Christmas.
I'm so happy to see this thread going, and I hope we get some really great ideas because I could sure use them. I'm making most of my Christmas gifts this year, due to a major lack of money, and besides I think it is more fun and personal to give a homemade gift.
I have been crocheting dishcloths, and I got the idea of making a set for a friend of mine. I'm have made one for Christmas out of varigated red white and green yarn (its called, sugar and cream yarn especially for dishcloths), I made one out of red, white and blue for the 4th of July, I also made one out of spring colors, and I'm working on a few other ones. She loves the homemade dishcloths because she doesn't have a dishwasher, and swears that these are the only ones that get her glasses shiny.
I made a pair of pajamas for my sweet granddaughter out of flannel with the print of the Dragon Tales cartoon characters, and I found a stuffed Dragon to match (from a garage sale last summer).
I'm painting jars and filling them with candies. Also making jars as banks and putting cute little things on them with cute sayings. For example, one for my husband with a toy motorcycle glued on top, saying "Future Motorcycle Fund", also one for my mother in law with little dice on top (for her little casino trips with the senior center).
I'm also making the gift baskets, pampered, and food types. I made a bunch of candles from recycled candles at church. I made bath salts with the aroma of peppermint and colored them red and made red and white layers.
My husband is hollering for me to come eat the dinner he sweetly made, otherwise I could keep going.
Will reply later.
Hope we get lots of ideas
