Craft Photos

Hello to all our crafting friends-

We thought this would be a good place to show our craft photos of things we're working on or have done.

So come one and all, dig in those albums and show us some of your beautiful crafts.

I am going to make a wreath for my grandmother. She loves them so much and this will be third one that I'll make for her. It takes about 9 yards of fabric, but they look wonderful! I use zip-zag sizzors to cut squares into 3-4 inch pieces--depending on how puffy you want the wreath. You can use round or heart shaped straw wreaths of any size.

I have made some that were of red and green fabric. Then, I hot-glued various christmas ornaments and decorations. Then, I made one with red. white, and blue fabric and hot-glued little ornamental pies and then hot-glued and little grapevine chair to its base wit ivy coming out of the chair. I have also done some with silk flowers. I could go on and on.

Anyway, use a philips screwdriver to push the fabric into the wreath. Work in about an inch or so. After all the fabric is inbedded into the straw wreath (leave it blank on the back so it will lay right against the wall) hot-glue whatever you'd like, including letters, toy cars, etc... Use a wirecutter to cut a piece of a wirehanger so that it will have something to hang with. Or, you can use regular wire from the craft store.

I wanted to upload a couple of pictures that I have, but I couldn't get it to work or I'd show you some pictures. It really is easy and they make great gifts for Christmas and birthdays!

Visual Pictures O.k. too

Debora

That sounds wonderful and has given me some ideas, thank you so much for sharing. I actually bought a whole bunch of scraps cut just like that... didn't know what I would do with them but the patterns were just too cute to pass up. I hope the thrift store I bought them from still has the rest, now that I know what to do with them. I also have literally bags and bags of scrap blue jean material that I can do the same thing with. Thank you.

Here are the directions for the ones that I make as soon as I get pictures of them I will post them here. Anyway, here are your directions.

Materials: Any combination of 3 yards of fabric -
1 12" straw wreath (wrapped in plastic)
1 yd (I prefer 1 ½ yds. of each of red, white, blue or any color fabric you choose (print or solid)
1 med. size Phillips head screwdriver
1 pr. scissors (straight or pinking) or rotary cutter
with mat

Directions:
1. Cut all fabric into 5" squares
2. Work with wreath on flat surface.
Do NOT unwrap the plastic
3. Place screwdriver in center, on right side of each
square and punch into wreath about every 1/2"
covering the exposed front of wreath then
alternate the white and red squares as you work
your way around.
4. Hang wreath and enjoy.
(You can do, the upper left corner (or 1/4 of circle
is done in blue or blue and white material while the
other 3/4 of it is done in red and white or what ever color you are making)
Create any design using any 3 yards. of fabric

Thanks Craftylady-

I wouldn't have thought to leave the plastic on... sure would be less messy. With fall right around the corner (my cherry leafs are changing and falling off already), this will be a nice addition to my booth at the mall.

Well put Craftylady. I didn't even think to mention to leave the plastic on. I've done do many that I'm auto-pilot and forget to mention these important pieces of information.
