Craft Club - July 2008 - Ladybugs and/or Ants

The second set of projects in the July Craft Club are (you may pick one or do both) Egg Carton Ladybugs or Styrofoam Ants. These are perfect for kids and we've chosen projects that appeal to both boys (ants) and girls (ladybugs).

Please visit the links above to see what supplies you will need.

Please use this thread to post your questions and comments this month while making this craft. Remember to take pictures of your project and report on your results:
  • Was it easy?
  • Were the instructions clear?
  • Were you happy with the results?
  • Did you have any difficulty in making this project?
  • Any other comments, suggestions and questions

If you have any questions about this month's club, please post them here. This project should be completed by July 31st.

Ok let's get started! Have fun everyone!

Remember to also check out our other July Craft Club - Potato Beads!

Below are the pictures of the projects above.

Happy face

I'm still working on the potato beads.. had to start over on the beads.

The lady bugs will be cute to put in flower pots.

Very cute project. It works well with our Summer Reading program theme.
I am painting my beads this weekend and then I will start on this project too.

Great, glad to have you both!

Minny - that's a good idea, but you would need to make sure they aren't really sitting on the soil as when you water them it will soak into the cardboard. You could glue popsicle sticks to the back of them and make them plant pokes!

Joy - Glad to have you, can't wait to see your potato beads too!

I was thinking the ladybugs would look cute on plants also. I have several very large peace lillys and they could be put right on the leafs.

Those lady bugs look so cute, I will have to find an egg carton from some one as I get huge trays from the egg farm.

I think that Alexis and I are going to do the ladybugs. We're going to send some to Grandma when we are finished making them.

Dominic and I have decided to make the ant since we've already done the ladybugs (they are sitting at my daughter's computer).

We are on vacation, but we are going to be able to do both projects. We are changing a few things--we have no egg cartons, so we're going to use styrofoam for the ladybugs, too. That's the project my daughter really likes, but we decided to do both. She is excited about it.
