Welcome to our first month in FC's new Craft Club! This month we will be making these cool Turquoise Potato Beads!
Please visit the link above to see what supplies you will need.
Please use this thread to post your questions and comments this month while making this craft. Remember to take pictures of your project and report on your results:
Was it easy?
Were the instructions clear?
Were you happy with the results?
Did you have any difficulty in making this project?
Any other comments, suggestions and questions
If you have any questions about this month's club, please post them here. This project should be completed by July 29th. Keep in mind you will need one full week of drying time per the instructions, so plan accordingly. Don't plan to make this project on the 26th as you won't be done in time.
I checked out the instruction link and I only need to get one thing on the supply list. I read through the instructions and I think they look easy enough to follow. I plan on getting started on my potato drying this weekend.
I think I have all those things to get something going, bit early in the day but will see what happens later when I read the instructions better.
Thanks, not thought of using potatoes for beads that's for sure.
I tried this craft a few weeks ago, my potato beads turned black, is that normal?
If it is I will try them again.
I haven't joined the club yet, but I might as Elijah gets a little older.
Kathy, is that the Koala Brothers in your sig line?

I asked Alexis (my jewelry crazed daughter) if she wanted to do this project and she said "no way!". She said that jewelry shouldn't be made from potatoes. lol!!
Question....Are these for girls only? Andy wants to make one but he thinks that they look like they are for girls.
We started tonight, and I have attached the picture of the first step. We are not going to make ours turquoise because we have other colors of paint at hand. My daughter wants to use different colors. She doesn't look forward to waiting a week. But she's excited.

Yep, that's normal, as long as you don't see any mold you are in the clear

Will this be the only craft this month?
This is not just for girls, it can be adapted for boys too! You can do like Ruth and use other colors. Andy can string his on as a necklace if he wants, using just 3 or 4, try painting them black with gold glitter glue as a sealer! Or whatever color Andy think would be cool, they make gold paint too

Awesome! I think they will look fabulous in any color. Tell your daughter it will be worth the wait and to check their progress daily!

Cool, Amanda! I will tell him that you said that it would be cool for him to do it. Since the word came from you, he will listen. lol! My kids consider you the queen of crafts!
I will make another one because I know that once Alexis realizes that Andy is making one, she will want one, too. She is just cracking me up ...all night she has been saying that jewelry shouldn't be made from potatoes.
