Yeah, I kinda did know what you were getting at about Costco. But I'm like Lislyn in the respect that we go through a lot of TP and I just prefer the Costco brand, 2 ply.
I usually only buy like 25 lbs flour, sugar and brown sugar, green beans, corn, sometimes the fruit, always the butter as it's less than the grocery stores.
We try to eat more organicaly than not. No boxed cereal eaters here so I am always buying fruit, lettuce and perishables mostly.
I am pretty stocked up on things we do use, I'm always thinking ahead.
I guess I don't just buy something if it's a good deal or has a coupon unless I know it will get used up in a timely manner around here. I have a friend who does that and then she complains cause she has to much stuff!
Norma - I found my last envelope which was addressed to you fell off the table by my computer and is still here! It will go out to you tomorrow.
I have been getting coupons from new people who either saw me on TV or in the newspaper. One man was so funny, said he saw the segment on TV but didn't recognize me! A man I knew from 1983 saw me in a local store last year, called me by name! I asked him how he knew me and he said I don't change much! I told him he changed a little- he was short, fat and bald, quite different then he looked as a young man 23 yrs. ago!
Ingles grocery store in SC is tripling coupons, but only 3 for every $10 spent and only up to $.50. When Bloom triples coupons, it is up to $.99 and you can use a coupon on every item.
I hear that K-Mart is doubling coupons this week in the Southern part of SC and I'm in the Upstate. I'll have to check the one in Greenville and Anderson to see if they are doing that. Saturday after the bluegrass music, I stopped at K-Mart, had $2/2 Suave products. I purchased 8 Suave shampoo and conditioners, 22 oz. size, only cost me the tax of $.54. I'm a "Happy Camper". With my asthma, I am able to use the Tropical Coconut shampoo and conditioner and it makes my blonde hair shine! Hope you have all had a good week. Snow is predicted for my area tonight and tomorrow, already snowing across the border of NC and some in Greenville, SC.
Most stores will only allow one coupon per item but if you have a b2g1f coupon you generally can use a coupon on the 2 items that you are buying as well.
Last year I stocked up on a toothpaste deal, they were .84 so I bought all they had so don't need to buy toothpaste for a while.
And I have a lot of body wash that I got for 2.00 a piece, the large sizes.
Sometimes I come across a good markdown and if I can use the product then I will buy it.
But I need to do some research on this couponing to see if it would really benefit us.
Today was senior citizen day at the grocery store, 2 stores in this area give 5% off every Wednesday. So, I went, armed with my coupons, purchased $40, paid $8. I bought my favorite Lipton Tea, 24 family sized bags in a box, 2/$3, used $.60/1 coupon, cost $.30 a box. I can't get a cup of tea for that in a restaurant! Got some Frank's Hot Sauce on sale, big bottles, Knoor's Alfredo pasta, French's Mustard free with the coupons. My daughter is doing a series after each church service and we have food. My sister makes a pasta alfredo dish with cut up chicken and zucchini squash and it is great. Might suggest that to my daughter for this Sunday and I'll use the cheap Knorr's pasta I bought today. Used $1 coupon on Mentos gum, on sale $1 this week, love that stuff, no wrapper to throw away, no wrapper to fool with, in a tiny bottle that fits nicely in my purse, and easy to use. Finally, I got a cashier who not only knows how to ring up coupons, but uses them! We had about a 10 min. conversation about them, and her store accepts computer coupons which most stores in my area of SC do not! She said she has another customer who does as well as I do with coupons. She said, "I wish you could meet her", so I gave her a card with my phone # for the lady and one for her. I asked her to call me and we'd exchange coupons. She can rattle off the ending price of the item after her coupons were deducted just like I can. Such fun!
Laurie - I hope you decide to use coupons. Last year, I purchased $4,800 in groceries and health & beauty products, paid $1,200. I can't do that anywhere without coupons! It took me 1 1/2 yrs. to learn all that I've learned, but I've had help locally and on the internet groups and I love this group.
