Norma, I almost make the same type of pot roast as you...but no pepsi or rosemary..
I also put quartered red skinned potatoes, and carrots around the roast, with some fresh onion & garlic...
My guys love how the potatoes and carrots get all brown and glazed..lol
They will have a few meals all week on the roast..I swear they act like I never cook! lol

Laurie, I do live in a small town...the UP of Mi is very rural..we have tons of trees, wildlife, shorelines, lighthouses, tons of snow in the winter, and the most hard working, honest people, helpful people in the world...
My town might have 7,000 people now..and we also have a college that brings another 5,000-6,000 in for 9months.
When the students leave to return home in summer...our area gets really empty...and with gas prices so high..our tourist traffic is down.
We only have 4 traffic lights in our town..lol
Hugs, Janet
PS. our phone book is small too..8"by 6" and 3/4 " thick-- 155 pages,including the yellow pages..lol
Patti, last winter we only had one evening when we were actually stuck at home, due to snow...they pulled the plows off the roads at 6pm...businesses closed, and the wind blew all night...by the next morning..all the roads were open, and school was on as usual..lol
We only get 2 snow days a yr here..and usually that is once before Christmas, and once around March..when it gets too foggy..lol
I find in the winter, snuggling in, and working on crafts, crocheting, puzzles, sewing, cooking, baking, is the way to enjoy the quiet time..of course this is all done, after you had your morning workout of snow removal...lol
WE have winter carnivals too...complete with fireworks, snow games, and food that is prepared in houses made of snow! SO cool..
California according to some people seems to stop at San Francisco. But above SF is some very nice country. Redwood trees, loggers typical cooler weather like we have up here on our northern coast. Where my dh comes from is the Easter Lilly capital of the world, Smith River. That's where they are grown and they have an Easter Lilly festival in July cause that's when they really bloom, otherwise the blooms are forced for Easter holiday.
Portland is like a version of Seattle (we're trying anyway) only smaller. There is a lot of construction going on all the time. Things have changed so much since I was kid. There is always something going on around here, we have a lot of Farmer's markets and we have a Saturday Market that sells hand made items.
Laurie, are there alot of jobs in Your hubby's home town? I bet it must be beautiful there when the Lillies are blooming!
I imagine there are tons of jobs in Portland?
I have never seen the Pacific Ocean..have seen the Atlantic, and the Gulf of Mexico, and the Great Mississippi River..maybe I should put that on my to-do list! lol
There aren't many jobs in Smith River itself. Not unless you work at one of the farms there. They have dairy farms and of course the lilly bulbs.
It's only 8 miles to Crescent City Ca from there and most people work there. Tourist town. Then up north 8 miles from SR is Brookings Or also a tourist town. Theses are small communities on the coast.
