Frugal Adult Halloween Costumes

We had a halloween costume contest at work today and here are some of the frugal things in our office did.

Bob the Cable Guy- blue jeans, work boots, baseball cap, and cut the sleeves off a checkered shirt, jagged edges.

Pirate-Pair of checkered pants, cut into zip zag strips on the edges Oh they need to be cut up to just below the knee, then zig zag. Striped pullover long sleeve shirt, blue and white horizontal striped. Take a long silky type scarf and tie around the waist, tuck a gun ( our guy used a deringer cigarette lighter for his) in the waist band. Tie a scarf around the head. He used his wifes mascara to make his face look swarmy. Oh and he used a pair of vertical striped tights under his pants and black shoes.

Nurse- one of the girls borrowed her friends mother's white uniform with the nurses hat and white tennis shoes.

A Rustler
Another guy was a Rustler, LOL! He took long sheets of brown shipping paper, made a big cowbow hat like Hoss in the old Bananza movies, made a vest out of the paper and brown paper chaps. He rustled when he moved, lol! He had a sign made up to put on his back "Wanted Rustler".

A Christmas Tree- One of the ladies wore leggings, a solid green sweater and wrapped red tinsel all over and put Christmas ornaments on herself and flat gift boxes.

When I use to work...I like to take my DH's old clothes (esp. dark colors) and layer them as I put them on over my sweat pants /jeans add a little white cream base, and some non staining lipstick and go as a sleep walker or working stiff. One time I took an old black hood sweat-shirt, a long black slip, a black wig and the white make up w/lipstick and scared the hebegbees out of DN and Dn - about 15 years ago... now I just keep bits of old clothes to hand stitch (sloppily) together and wear it as a forgotten trick-or-treater ;-). I have a photo somehwere (little one) of me scaring my DN & Dn plus a few my mom made when my DS and I were very much younger.
