Hi
When I use foundation in the summer, I use a liquid that turns to powder combo then use a powder compact over it a little. In the winter though, Im using just a liquid and a powder compact. I only use Cover Girl compacts, thats the one I like. I think that you can find a decent foundation in a WalMart but I think you should stay with a well know name that is a little upper price--Im only talking around$8.00. It took me quite a few tries to find something that I like. If you have a Rite Aid store nearby, I think it is there that you can return makeup if you dont like it.
I have tweezed my eyebrows and that hurts! I have also used the little kits at WM that has a sticky sided tape and you pull it off ( kinda like wax but using scotch tape, LOL!) They work ok. I would like to get mine waxed but I cant find anywhere around me that does it.

Call around to the local salons or nail shops if you have those and inquire about the eye brow waxing.
Irivetz,
We would never want you to break out. Then you have to wear stuff to cover that. Lo'real (I think) has samples to buy in the store. I know one of the drug store companies does. You get three different shades to use. You could try those too. In my women's magazines I get samples too, but just enough to try the color.
You could go to a cosmetic counter free of charge and have a makeover. You aren't obligated to buy anything but they can give you tips and instruction professionally. That would be better than trying to apply makeup the wrong way. Bad makeup application is worse than no makeup at all. I personally went to Merle Norman. I scheduled an appointment and they did the skin care as well. I'm sure any makeup counter such as Clinique or anyone of them can help. It's not as difficult as you think.
What a great topic I also need some tips on this. On the eyebrow subject my beautician does my eyebrows and when i dont have time or money for her to do it I have bought some wax from Avon its really easy todo I do my moms all the time.
I am 57 years old. been wearing make up all my life....well since I was 15 I cleanse my face, use a good mositurizer, then I apply liquid make up with a small lite sponge made just for lq. make up. you can find these sponges in a beauty supply store. I sometimes, slightly dampen the sponge, then apply the foundation in light smoot strokes all over my face, including the jawline and forehead. then lightly go over your face with fingertips to blend. Then I apply loose powder in a translucent(no color)shade, ever so lightly......this sets your foundation. then when I am finished with eye make upand brows etc. I apply a damp wash cloth all over my face lasts all day
for your brows, if you have brows, just fill in the brows with a powdered brow color.......if not you have to draw with eyebrow pencil with light , feather strokes
hope this helps after doing this for awhile, it will become second nature to you
I agree that bad makeup is worse than no makeup....
I also liked the idea of haveing someone show you how to do this in person. I would caution to to 'watch' the counter before you make an appointment to see how they do it if you go to a store. I have heard horror stories of the store/counter reuseing samples and applicatiors- not sanitary in the least.
I would recomend that you contact your local Mary Kay consultant. We are trained how use skincare and make up. We do this free of charge. If you don't know of anyone please visit www.marykay.com and click on the locator button. By your zip code you can locate someone close to you to help. We also offer a 100% money back gaurantee.
Good luck and let us know what you decide to do...
I use only Clinique or Chanel...
I just bought a lipstick, Lancome, Code Red... $21.00 with tax...
Most of what I wear goes with that color...
I don't use cheap makeup.. it's bad for your skin, and since my skin is sensitive, I will buy the better cosmetic.
Clinque and Chanel are the only 2 that have my shade...I've tried others and it's not the same... I buy when they have special give aways.....One bout with cheap cosmetics cost me more at the Doctor's office than if I had purchased the more expensive.....
My DH likes the natural look.. so I just use a little lipstick at times...and maybe a little mascara...most of the time.
May I make a suggestion? The next time you are in a department store, or call ahead,.....get a free makeover by one of the cosmetic companies... not only do you get a free makeover, they will show you how to apply it, and the eye products and glosses..
in hopes that you will buy their products.. just say ..I have to walk around a bit to get use to it.... I'll be back..... You don't have to buy all the products... but if you like what they did...then buy one item.... then next time, something else..
Another suggestion is to find out where they are having a Mary Kay party.... I can't use their make up.. but you can watch them do makeovers... another learning experience. ...
