Meat: To wash or not to wash?

My DH, insists that all our meat be washed before we cook it. Is this necessary?

I don't wash, unless he is watching me put it in the pan. I have questioned him on how I am to wash hamburger, if he wants all his meat washed.

While I do not know if it is necessary, I do rinse off all of my meat before cooking.....except ground meat. (if I could figure out a way to do it, I probably would! )

Why do I rinse the meat?? I don't know.....I can't remember if it was something I learned to do while watching my mother or grandmother cook.

Another meat washer!

I have read somewhere that it is not necessary. And that if you feel it is necessary to clean the area thoroughly where the meat was washed. That all the "bad" stuff that would get washed off, gets killed while cooking.

Honestly, I think I taught DH, to wash the meat when we first met. But, than I heard that it does not need to be washed, so I stopped. But, once he gets something in his head it just sticks.

I was just wondering if maybe, I should be washing it all the time.

Ok, Ill admit it....I wash too! Why do we do it? To make it clean before cooking it? One last bath, lol?

Count me in, too!! I wash my meat except hamburger!! How would you do that?

I wash the pork chops to get that slimy white gunk off of them.

I wash chicken for obvious reasons.

Pot roast, pork roast, etc....I just do it.

Yeah, that's what I do, I wash my meat before I cook it. Hubby does the same thing. I know I do it because when we used to get the fresh meat when we had the cows and pigs killed, my dad told me to always wash that meat first. So I still do it and I guess it's just a hold over from that.
