making cookies for the holidays has always been a dream of mine. I've never really had the time to do very much, if any at all. I'm going to make a big effort to make several different cookies to share this year. I need to find some cookies/dough that will freeze and still be good after a month to 8 weeks 'cause I could get started in October then when I take a weeks vacation. Any suggestions??

To answer the original question. I like different kinds of chips in my cookies, although I try to make the original recipe for family. I also like to add oatmeal, coconut and raisins.

Okay - still, making 100+ dozen is a BUNCH of cookies. LOL! I'm trying to remember how many different kinds my friend made last Christmas. I think it was something like 120. I'll have to ask her in a few weeks when I know she's started digging out her recipes for this year. :-)

I love the original Toll House cookies like they show on commercials where even after the cookie has cooled the chips are still soft and string apart. MMMMmmmm...

The only thing besides the chocolate chips I like in my chocolate chip cookie is some pecans. Those are great. Anything else doesn't qualify as "chocolate chip cookies" in my book. They become another kind. HA!

Now after all this talk about choclate chip cookies, I may have to go make some.

Marti,
That commercial and description was making me hungry. Yes they look so yummy on tv. Its funny because my son had no idea about this post and tonight he says, "Mom I'm hungry for choc chip cookies". We just finished some chocolate cookies with peanut butter chips. It was on the back of the chip bag. Not too bad, but not a Christmas cookie. lol I just couldnt get the timing down and they were a little hard on the outside or gooey (underbaked) in the middle.

Yummy...pecans in my choc. chip cookies!!

I do think that I even know 100 different kinds of cookies! LOL!!

I mainly make choc. chip, oatmeal raisin (my MIL's recipe is the best!), and a great soft sugar cookie recipe that I have.

I am on the lookout for some other easy to make recipes this year.
