My chili is pretty simple.

1 64 oz can tomato juice
1 lb hamburger/ ground turkey or veggie crumbles
1 lb sausage
2 cans Hormel chili w/ or w/o beans
1/2 box of elbow macaroni
2 pkgs chili seasoning mix
3 T worcestershire sauce
chili powder & cumin to taste

Brown hamburger & sausage in lg skillet til no longer pink; drain. While meat is cooking, bring lg pan of water to boil and add pasta. Cook until just almost done; drain. Place pasta, meat, chili w/ or w/o beans in lg pan. Sprinkle with seasoning mix and worcestershire sauce. Add tomato juice and 3 cups water. Stir to combine. Add chili powder & cumin to taste. Simmer for about 30-40 mins.

The boys and I don't like chunks of tomato, etc so I don't add those. Patrick doesn't like beans so I make a small pan without the beans. I'll make a big stockpot of chili and we'll eat out of it for several days. Sounds really yummy right now but considering it's been unseasonably hot (95) here the past couple weeks, chili making will have to wait!!

chili

As most....we use beans for chili but I have and do most times....use Baco Burgers...they are so great...they have many different flavors....and also I use TOFU.....not only is tofu good for you but tofu hasn't any flavor...it picks up the flavor of whatever recipe you add it to!

Little History of Chili

Little History of Chili Recipes. Some people sat that chile was invented in Mexico during the 1800s, some will tell you that its origin is in Tijuana, Baja California, or Ciudad Jurez, Chihuahua, Mexico. The Mexican theory is that it was created to be served in cantinas, for outsiders, who wanted a spicy "Mexican" dish to eat, that was free or cheap.Original chili was made with leftovers from the meals and served for free to drinking customers. The chili recipes that originated in America were in wide use in pre-Columbian Mexican culture. Any stew made using significant amounts of chilies might be seen as a forerunner of all modern chili recipes.

Hugs, Janet
