I try to keep it as simple as possible, but since moving to the (latest) rental, I have found some of my old techniques don't work as well as they use to, yet some work more efficiently then they ever did. Some one once told me to "K.I.S.S." my projects, s/he said that means Keep It Simple Stupid (not that anyone is really stupid). So I sat and though about what they said and it makes allot of sense, why over do what I have when "basics" work. If you can't keep it all in one closet, you don't need it (decorations are the exception). Skirts and pants go on the rack closest to the floor, Blouses, casual (non t-shirts) shirts, and Sweaters right above that. Shoes - Technically you should only need 6-8 shoes, if you need/have more, get a shoe rack/tree some hang over doors, some rest on floors (that's the empty space under your skirts and pants). Dresses usually hang in a section near the up/down rack of your closet. I share mine w/DH, its a semi-walk-in, imagine a 4" x 6' Christmas/Holiday tree box stretched into a 5'x8' space, no joke this is it for the two of us, plus extra towels, blankets, pillows, and lock-boxes. We also have a six drawer and a seven drawer dresser (plus my semi-empty jewelry box) for Under clothing, still good holey clothes (for house/yard work), summer clothes, pajamas, and under clothes. The front hall closet holds all the other towels, blankets, coats, sweaters, 2 vacuums (one is a carpet cleaner), and liqueur. My den has storage items in it, DH's has his stuff and storage items, and the guest room has hanging space for guest stuff, and the other side has storage stuff. The garage has two shelving units with 4 -5 racks on them and filled with decoration boxes and Yard supplies - we still needed the cars to fit. If we could locate under-bed storage boxes that actually fit under our bed, we would be using those to, as it is, the gift wrap box that is suppose to fit there, doesn't so it's in a closet. We even have a game storage unit, it's under our TV. It's really rather sad actually we have a good size rental home and very little storage / closet space, but enough furniture and other "packaging" supplies to keep it all organized. We'd use an attic for storage if we had one... the only thing in what could be considered an attic is where the duct pipes are at, and the rest of the house has vaulted ceilings - but the price was right, so we make do.
