This year in order to save money for Christmas I am making all of my Christmas gifts. I have a new grand baby that we are expecting in about 4 months, and things have been really tight for us this year. I really don't know why I haven't done this in the past. I think a homemade gift is the most special. I would love to hear other ideas.

As we get older the kids included the present get less and I guess more personal and not as much money spent.
Teenagers appreciate more personal things but don't seem to expect it.
We've always had a $ limit I can't see why some people go into credit debit to give their kids those expensive presents.
We only do christmas and birthday gifts till the nieces and nephews turn 18, they then get a 21st b-day present otherwise it's only cards, we all agreed as a family this would happen. ds1 is the 1st or the oldest of the kids so his 18th last year was his last. We don't do the adults but do give a $5 gift to the g'parents as a pair usually stuff I've made, cakes, sweets, a stakc fo ready to send b-day/note cards OR .....

In my younger years, I used to think that it was ok to go into debt for Christmas...no more! Now I think that if I can afford it, it's just not worth it to us in the long run.

Toys R Us had a good sale on Match Box cars today so I picked up 2 sets for my kids while I was buying a BD present for a classmate's party that my dd will be attending tomorrow.
