Do you do all those baked goods right before Christmas or do you space out the baking during the whole month? What's your favorite way to get the baking done?
I usually have lots made and stashed in freezer etc already by now. BUT have not made the first cookie/bread/pie and Thanksgiving is Thursday as we all know. When I start the T-Day baking I also start the Christmas baking

I will start my Christmas baking next weekend. I have been stocking up on baking supplies for the past month so I have everything in when the urge strikes! I will start with the things that I make several batches of - like biscotti, fudge and pizzelles.
I guess I am a scrooge, because I don't do Christmas baking anymore. After doing it for 47 Christmases, I just don't fuss any more. My wonderful daughter has us over for Christmas dinner every year, so I don't have to cook it, and our son & wife have us over for Thanksgiving (Canada), so I don't do that either. Last year we had a large skating party to celebrate son's engagement and had a pot luck dinner, which was just great, on Boxing Day. Anyway, that's my idea of Christmas baking, buy a couple of squares and shortbreads that taste just as good as home made, and we're all set.
Good morning and I hope all have a good day today. I have pies to make had thought about making them for Christmas today too but changed my mind as want them to be fresh come Christmas even tho' I know I can put them in freezer. I have made Egg Nog cookies so far towards Christmas. IF I have time will also make some cookies not sure yet which ones for Christmas as well as to keep cookie jar filled for all of us but mainly Adam and Steven and Jordan (Chelsea's 2+ son) which I know will be over here during the holidays.

I do it in groupings, depends on who it's for, when I'll see them.
My christmas cakes I make in the last week of Nov/1st week Dec and the rest just flows from there. Slices. sweets, chocs, etc.
What's needed for the meal, chicken and pork is cooked the day before so it is cold and ready to serve, same with any pies and desserts. Christmas doy comes around and we just have to make up the salads. Potatoes, rice and dressings are also made the day before.
We do not have anything hot to prepare unless the host wants whole baked potatoes/sweet potatoes or fish.
I use to make them at the beginning of December as I sent them to school with the kids for their classroom parties. But, now I do them more towards the middle of the month since most of my kids have been out of school for awhile. I will probably start doing baking next week as school break will be coming soon and I have several cookie exchanges coming up in a week or two. May even try to get some homemade candy made up before christmas.
Location: We live in Northwest Mississippe, very close to Memphis TN.

I started this morning. Picked out my recipes, made my grocery list, went to Wal-Mart, came home and unloaded the supplies, ate lunch and took a nap. Got up and made 5 1/2 dozen chocolate chip cookies. tomorrow it is Peanut Butter Crinkles and Chocolate Crinkles.
Then date bars and Thumbprint cookies with raspberry and apricot filling. I have about 6 other recipies to do. I mail to my son and daughter-in-law. The rest are for guest and family.
