This year I am hoping to have Dh and Dd do my Christmas baking. Dh is home recovering from surgery and Dd will be home next Thursday for break. I always have a hard time fitting baking into my schedule and this will really help me out.
We don't do as much baking now that the kids have grown as none of us need that much sugary foods. There are still some favorites that we make every year though---Chocolate Crinkles, Cut-out Sugar Cookies, Peppernuts (old family recipe), and Oatmeal Fudge (like no bake cookie only I pour in a pan and cut). My kids also love to dip things in almond bark. We have dipped pretzels, pretzels rods, half a cookie, cheese curls and even potato chips.

I have started. Chocolate Chip, Chocolate Crinkles, Peanut Butter Crinkles, 7 Layer Bars, Date Nut Bars, Raspberry Bars, Thumb Print Cookies. Some Punichi and Pumpkin Bread. I don't eat very much, but my grown kids, Grandaughter and hubby eat and groan! Hubby has been"Taste Testing" already, says he is checking to see if it isgood enough to pass out to family and friends...Yea, Right!!!

I may start this weekend to make the sugar cookie cut outs. I also make the ones with my cookie press, Mexican Wedding Cakes,
and two kinds of fudge.

For those of you that bake lots of biscuits/cookies, how do you store them till christmas time or are they baked now with the intention of eating up to the day?

Curious, if I made to far ahead the biscuits/cookies would be spoiled before the day because of the heat.
I make up and freeze the dough but need to cook those things in the same week for lack of preservatives like store bought.

Chocolate Crinkles are a soft cookie that you roll in a ball, then roll in powdered sugar. When baked they have a crackled appearance. They taste like a frosted brownie. Peanut butter crackles are made the same way but are rolled in granulated sugar...Yum!

I usually have lots stashed in freezer and cans that did have the 3 flavors of popcorn in them. But only have 2 loaf breads and some cookies in freezer. I hope to bake some this Thurs, can't Tuesday as Judy has DR appt and I already have something planned for Wed. And hopefully Kent will have the sink finished tomorrow eve.

Well, I just read my post from last year. I have most of my supplies stocked up. I just need to buy a bucket load of umph! (energy)

I have some new recipes I want to try out this year. I need to go through the recipe binder I have of recipes. I don't have to worry about taste testers. GD and DH again have voluteered (the sacrafices they make for me is unbelievable, lol).

I think I wll start later this week and make good use of the freezer. Happy Baking to all.
