When do you open your Christmas gifts?

With the hustle and bustle of the holidays, Christmas day is no longer the only day people open their gifts.

When do you gather with friends and family to open gifts? (This is a multiple choice poll).

We open Santa sacks on Christmas morning, together as a family.
The gifts under the tree are usually just before or just after lunch, with whoever is around. That can often mean that we take kids elsewhere and they have to wait for their gifts! THey are used to that and it works for us.

When I met my husband 5 yrs ago, he had a then 15 yr tradition of a Christmas Eve dinner at a fine restaurant with his two children and spouses and then returning to his daughters home for opening of presents. Still the same tradition carries on but we now stay all night at his daughters and then leave early Chirstmas morning to head to my daughters (35 miles away) for opening of Christmas presents and then holiday dinner with my children and family and then we leave around 6:00 PM...head home 96 miles away!

We have always opened our presents Christmas morning, followed by a trip over to my parent's house, where my siblings and their families and I gather for a Christmas feast and a gift exchange.

We usually go out to a Chinese restaurant for dinner on Christmas Eve, followed by church.
When we get home from church, we each open one present. The rest we open on Christmas morning.

Good moning all, well here I go to church on Christmas morning and then come home change clothes check on turkey/ham and then we gather in LR and open gifts one at a time so we can all see what and from who and take pix. Now that we (Judy and I) live across the street from Gina,Kent & Steven we may go over there and open what is there and then come back over here and open. Adam living in his own place now will come to both homes to give/get what he has.

I have had the same traditions since I was a little girl that my parents passed on to me. On Christmas morning we all gather around the tree with cups of hot cocoa and cinnamon buns or donuts to open presents one at a time. One person will pick one under the tree, of course not one of their own, give it to the name on the tag, they open it and we ooh and awww and take pics. Then they go get one and so on and so on until it's all emptied of presents. It usually takes us about 3 hours. One year it took 5 hours but we had extra ppl at the house that year.
Now that some of my kids are older and have moved out we have a Christmas dinner on Christmas Eve [this year will be on the 23rd] and we swap presents with my daughter and her family. That way I can see my grandson open his presents. We always have a great time when we open presents. Everyone gets as much joy out of watching what each other got as they get just from opening one of their own.

My daughters wake us up bright & early X-mas morning, my parents, my FIL, & my MIL come over and watch the girls open their presents. We do let them open one gift X-mas Eve, every year they get matching pjs that they open & wear to bed so that they look even more adorable for pics.
