Today I made Pizzelles. Would not feel like Christmas without them. Mom said these were the best she has tasted.
Tried making them different this time. Used butter instead of oil and used self rising flour instead of all purpose. The batter did rise quickly making it spread further. They were easier to apply to the grill and came out crispier and lighter.
Will make another batch tonight for DS and his friends.

Sueanne, I got a Pizzelle maker from osi a while back I have got to get it out and try to make some can you post a recipe and tell me how to make and what to do with them when all done i mean how to keep them or do you have to eat them right away
boggsz...There is a thread on pizzelles that barbszy posted with a recipe.
I love to experiment with adding different things to it to make it more tastey. These have walnuts & raisins that I ground and added to the batter. Using the self rising flour they came thinner getting 45 instead of 25. At least they were less calories each one.
I just store mine in a round tupperware container or a cake saver. They last a long time if kept covered. I like to put a sheet of paper towels to dry up any moisture.
Sprinkling with powdered sugar gives it more sweetness and color.

Sorry it took so long, but here's the recipes.
Mexican Wedding Cookies
1 Cup butter or Margarine
1/2 cup powdered sugar
1 tsp vanilla
Cream these together, then add
2 1/4 cups all purpose flour
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 cup nuts (whatever you like - I use pecans)
Take chunks and roll into 1 inch (ish) balls. Place on ungreased baking sheet and bake at 400 degrees F 8-10 minutes. When you pull them out of the oven roll them in more powdered sugar
Fudge Nuggets
3/4 cup shortening
1 cup sugar
1 egg
1 tsp vanilla
Cream together then add
1 1/2 cups flour
1/2 tsp salt
2 - 1 ounce squares baking chocolate melted
2/3 cup milk
1/2 cup nuts
1 1/2 cups quick cooking oatmeal
Drop teaspoonfulls onto ungreased baking sheet and bake 8-10 minutes at 350 degrees F. Dust with powdered sugar while still warm
