I belong to a group at my church that hosts a Living Nativity every year just before Christmas.
When we invite people to participate and enjoy the ceremony, we also let them know that we are accepting donations to be given to the local crisis pregnancy center. Some people give monetary donations; others bring baby clothes, diapers, formula and other baby needs.
One of my friends volunteers at the pregnancy center and she says that they always need diapers--especially in the bigger sizes as some of the moms also have older babies who are in need. So I try to get some packs of diapers in size 4, 5 or 6 and donate those. Everyone thinks of newborns when they donate to crisis-pregnancy centers, but these centers help moms right through the baby's first years.
Hubby and I usually volunteer at the Food Bank in the next town...I don't think I will be doing it this year with the flu being around so much...but I will continue to donate to the Food Bank...
Smiles & Hugs...

I always adopt a child from the Christmas tree at Wal-Mart. I also adopt a nursing home resident from the tree at my church. This year our family is sending a shoebox gift through my church to a child overseas.

"Oh Crap, She's up!"
I get an "angel" off of the true for children and one off of the "senior" tree. Not driving and not being able to stand can not volunteer for anything but use to back when

Thought for the Day
To accomplish great things, we must not only act, but also dream;
Not only plan, but also believe.
I usually donate a gift to a girl and a boy in the county foster care system but I missed last year due to being transfered around to different offices and other reasons. My church has always done the shoe gift boxes for Samaritan's Purse and I have donated for a boy and a girl for that. We have moved out of our building so don't know if they are going to do it this year. Last year I did donate some clean old towels and blankets to the animal shelter. I've never volunteered.

I'm the Noble Grand for the Rebekah Lodge here and we donate all the time. We just recently decided to donate cash to our local Community Kitchen. For the last few years we have collected canned and non-parishable foods and donated them to the same place. The Kitchen provides meals for the homeless and famlies in need. They serve more people in our community this way. I use to voluteer as a leader for Boy and Girl Scout troops. But, now only help with a Boy Scout Venture Crew.
Have also donated to the local Boys & Girls Club- puzzles, books and craft supplies.
I like to help wherever I can.
We always give to Harvest Sunday, the Catholic churches in the area pass out flyers 1 week, pick up the next. It supplies all the church pantries as well as the Salvation Army one. We also pick cards from our giving tree at church. We pick a card for each family member, I usually do toys for tots from the Marine Corps also.

I donate shoe boxes to troops and childrens group home. They are stuffed w toiletries , small toys/games , CD'S, phone cards, etc. My family also volunteers at Salvation Army to serve meals on Holidays and ring bell at christmas. Our 4-h club collects food for local pantry and needy families that are referred to us. I always feel it's not enough!
