Do You Honor Christmas in July?

For years, Christmas is July has been a marketing technique for many retail businesses. A great way to draw in customers and bring revenues up. How does it affect you? Do you start your Christmas shopping in the summer? Maybe start making crafts? What other activities do you do?

Im not a hard core follower of this but I usually start looking for good sales. I try to shop throughout the year for good deals but most of the time, Im one of those people who are still shopping on Christmas Eve!

My daughter was born Christmas day.
when she was little we would have her birthday in July so she wouldnt feel cheated .. we did a cake on Christmas and a few gifts but the big party was in July

Maybe that's a Northern thing. They don't seem to market it much down here. We just have "Humidity in July"

My answer was that I
Start my Christmas shopping
I also Start making crafts and decorations
My Dh and I also build a theme around it for our Darling Daughter.

I laughed out loud when I read this!

It would be a nice change not to see Christmas decorations in July. Im going to have to get used to not having a lot of snow for the month of December. How do you decorate a Christmas tree with no snow around you???

I too checked off that I start shopping in July but I really start already after Christmas. I have 4 of the larger gifts for the grankids already bought for next Christmas

.......if they make it that long.

All their birthdays are to come yet.

I, too, have already started my Christmas shopping for 2005! I like to scan the clearance racks in January and February to find bargains for gifts for my family. I usually don't stock up on Christmas cards or wrapping paper, tho. I like to wait and buy those items during the Christmas season. It kind of helps get me into the mood since I usually always have most of my shopping done during the rest of the year. This method of shopping is always good for my budget. I NEVER use credit cards for Christmas shopping which has many folks facing high bills in January. This way, I can take advantage of rummage sales, etc. all year round to find the best presents for all. One drawback, tho...I tend to have excess amount of gifts for everyone, tho, NOT the excess expense. I remind my relatives, that tho the stack of gifts for them may look expensive, they must keep in mind that I have spent LESS than I would, had I waited until November to buy them a special gift!!! If they really knew that I spent only 50 cents for that NEW $40. sweatshirt, they may think I were TOO cheap!!! Now, if I could just get started on my gift sewing projects BEFORE Decmeber, I would really be on target!!!

I guess it could be but apparently not in the Susquenhanna Valley! I have heard of it, but, nothing is done around here with it!
