My Kids never tried to peek. My son was satisfied to just shake and feel the packages and try to guess at what he thought was wrapped up. Sometimes his guesses were right on the mark, but I tried not to let him know that.

DeBora, I have to say I am really surprised that you knew how to sneak peaks at your Christmas gifts and not get caught. I think that is so funny. I could never have gotten away with that.

Barbszy, your dks are really smart so you are going to have to be extra sneaky. I like the idea of hiding gifts in suitcases. My mom used to keep our wrapped gifts at my grandparent's house (they lived 2 streets away). Right now the only gifts in my house are to other family members. My dh and dks's gifts are hidden out in my minivan in bags. I will wrap them while the dks are at school and dh is at work then hide them in my basement in rubbermade storage bins. We have so much junk stored in our basement they will never know which bin to look in or even bother going down there as it is creepy. You just need to think of an unusual place your big ds would never think of looking. And remind him, part of the fun of Christmas is the anticipation!!!

I'm lucky they have never snooped the house for presents. If they are under the tree they are allowed to look to their hearts content but not allowed to touch.
Usually I've just popped them in our walk in robe, still do.

Happy face

Debora, your story reminded me of my oldest DS. He used to get the tape cut & retape them & I couldn't tell it. One time I caught him looking in the closet & told him if he didn't stop snooping that Santa would take them away. He didn't believe me. We hid his gifts under our bed & come Christmas morning, we had one disappointed little boy! He cried & begged Santa to bring them back & he'd never do it again. We waited til he went to take a nap & brought out his gifts. I know... that was mean, but he learned his lesson.

Minny, how cruel. But I'd do it too if my kids snooped. LOL.

I think I'd booby trap a plastic container so that I'd know for certain someone had snooped.

Tell them that if they are caught, they lose the gift they want most. If they were getting it.

Gina snooped one year and that ruined her Christmas that year she had to pretend she had no idea what she getting. When she finally told me she said she never snooped again as she did not want to ruin any other Christmas.
Minny I think what you did was a good idea and the way you did it did not take away his belief in Santa
