My niece (17) gets Avon (mascara, lipgloss, nailpolish) things that her Mom okay's her to wear. But now that she is driving and working a gas card might be in order.
My nephew (15) has gotten Blockbuster gift cards in the past as he likes to rent games. Now that he is a little older I'll check with his Mom if that is still a good gift.
My other nephews have gotten Walmart gift cards in the past as they can get whatever they want there.
I send my Dad restaurant gift cards as well (cheaper postage) as he doesn't really 'need' anything.
If you are looking to give clothing, teen boys (and many girls too) like "hoodie" sweatshirts. My teenage DS is always happy to get one of those--the softer and warmer, the better!
Another popular clothing item with boys and girls alike is the flannel pajama pants.
gift cards for movie rentals or game rentals are always something my teens like
my college aged daughter loves gift cards to restaurants near her school (she gets tired of the cafeteria lol)
gas cards
cd's, dvd's and books
hoodie sweatshirts or fleece jackets
passes for skiing
gaming systems (play station, Game Cube, X Box etc.)
movie passes to local theaters
disposable cameras
digital camera
emergency car kit
membership to AAA
savings bonds
store giftcards
zip drive for a computer
MP3 player
handheld electronic games
board games (Scattergories, Cranium, Sequence etc.)
cell phone
backpack
Ooooh Hoodie sweatshirts are very popular at our house. I am not sure but I think the middle school must have a dress code. Only hoodie sweatshirts are allowed. LOL it's all my dd and her friends wear.
Anyway...
My dd worked her little butt off babysitting this summer and bought herself an Ipod....so she is asking for accessories for it AND don't forget itunes cards. If your teen has an MP3 those cards are wonderful...and the card can be a small amount or larger to fit anyones budget.
Definetly using some of these ideas. Hoodies are really hot now, excellent gift, I know I could use a new one
Both my dd and ds have asked for Gamefly gift cards (http://www.gamefly.com/giftcert/giftbuy.asp). Essential if your teen plays videogames. I made them pay for renting games out there allowence last year and they still loved it. We like it because they aren't asking for us to buy new games all year. So I think this year it will be on us.
I think we're also getting an Ipod Nano for each of them. Those things are so amazingly small.
