Train, I will have to find that movie, sounds like a very good one.

Gracegrammy - I know your son will really enjoy that video and will be missing his family greatly. Is he in Iraq or another country?

Morelia - Sounds like you are going to have very busy holiday season. That is a long trip down to Mexico. But they do have lovely traditions for Christmas. Do you all stay long?

Pag36 - I love nativity sets too. I want to find one that has a removable baby Jesus but have not found one in my price range yet. My SIL looked when she was stationed in Germany and went to Italy but they were very expensive there too. She did find me a small set from Italy though. A friend gave me a small ceramic set where all the figurines can be hung on the tree.

Never knew they had any that you could hang on the tree sounds nice. Sam's has some really NICE Nativity's but oh the price. Our collection (as such) started with one my beloved Mom gave me the Christmas just before we lost her (Jan 7th/95). I would not take anything for that set. Every year when we put them out I look at hers and cry it has been nearly 9 yrs but I still miss her daily. Sorry did not mean to get off on another track. 95 was a bad year for our family 4 deaths.

My fav Christmas movie I think is "Christmas Carol" with Alastair Sims in it, it is one of the old ones and I just love the way it is done and he makes such a wonderful Scrooge.

My ds is in the military, he's not in Iraq, he is in Japan. I have 2 good friends who have husbands in Iraq right now, it is so scary, things happen over there everyday it seems.

I have all my christmas cards written and addressed and ready to send. As soon as Nov starts Australia Post starts to advertise, get your mail in early especially overseas things, as with the just plain bulk of mail that goes through it slows down a LOT.
My favourite christams movies are the Peanuts ones with snoopy!!

Gracey:

I am praying for your son along with all of our soldiers. My cousin is active Navy!

Red:

We stay 2-3 weeks. The other week is driving time!
About 4-5 week vacation!

Bilby:

I would love to some day see Australia! I bet it is beautiful!

Pag:

We have a special tradition that goes with our nativity! During December everytime you practice kindness or a "good deed" you place a piece of staw in the manager. The idea is to give the baby Jesus a soft spot to "lay his sweet head" on December 24th!

Be blessed all!

Cathy what a nice tradition. This year if I can I want to do a bit of decorating in MY room. That is if I can keep Steven from messing with the stuff. I usually have a tree up in MY den too but once Steven got big enough to mess with it I quit. So now all we have to do is watch out for 1 tree in his Mom's living room plus all the Nativities scattered in her living room, entry way, guest bathroom, kitchen and one in my den. I want to get a small one to put here in my bedroom.

Got to start getting my stamps, 80 cents for England and Australia and 60 cents for Canada as well as 37 cents for all in the states. Adds up to a lot but I love sending cards soooooooo

Hi Morelia
Of course my little part of Aust is the best part ;-)

I have to go and get some lollies for my advent calendar. 3yrs ago I made my own calendar to hang on the wall with some nice bright fabric. Only thing is as the pockets aren't sealable the kids can look to see what's there before they're supposed to.

doing the video for your son is such a lovely idea, make sure u make 2 one as a backup just n case it gets lost, or you might want to keep one, so make it 3.
started to work on making some of my gifts. and getting ideas to what make the rest of things. but I will still have things to buy

this has been a hard yr but been so bless that I really want to go out on ecoration this yr.
Sat night is the Santa's helper Auction and Dinner so I will try to buy some of my gifts there. then after Thanksgiving I start decoration, want do it early as last yr I didn't feel up to having Christmas for it was the 1st yr without Daddy and as long as I had daddy I also had a part of mommy, which she went in 99.

I got a lot of little knick knacks that I bring out to put up for December, and then I am in plans of doing a Christmas Cookie Party for friends, so I want house to be decorate when I do this. thinking about 2nd wk of December to have it. so I better get busy in decoration

I take pictures that are on the walls and wrap them like a big present.
then I drape garland on shelves and bookcases
the windows I put those clingly things or tape those 2 sided christmas posters pictures
take my favorites christmas cards from the past and do up one of the doors, then this yr christmas cards on another door
I have even wrap doors up like a big present too.
do table centerpeices
the tv is doneis a nativity scene

well I am going off to bed see ya;ll later.

Morelia92 - what a neat tradition with the straw. Since the only part of our heritage that we know of is German, we hide a pickle (plastic) on the tree. The first child to find it gets an extra present.

My SIL made the kids a neat advent calendar a couple of years ago. She stitched a green felt tree on a white felt background. At the bottom are the numbers 1 - 25. On each number is a safety pin with an attached trinket. On that day you take and pin the trinket to the tree. By the 25 your tree is decorated. The trinkets can be anything. We have a bow, a christmas tree lightbulb, tiny dolls, and of course for chistmas eve a small baby Jesus.
